“Take your seat and don’t try anything when we land. Remember, my men work for me, and they are under orders to shoot if you make a run for it.”

I want to punch him so badly, but instead I turn and make my way to the front of the plane without a glance in his direction. That man is now my mortal enemy and he better watch out because I’m not a mafia princess for nothing and if he wants to play games, then I’ve spent a lifetime perfecting my skills.

As soon as we land, the aircraft erupts into a hive of activity. The doors open and the soldiers pour from the plane, leaving Malik, me and his consigliere, Ali behind.

Malik appears in no hurry and merely sips water from a crystal glass and engages in deep conversation with his right-hand man, effectively shutting me out. As I glance out of the window, my heart sinks when I see the welcoming committee.

This is on another level because a fleet of dark cars is waiting. The luggage is being tossed into their trunks, but it’s the armed guards protecting it that captures my attention. There are so many of them; more than I’ve ever seen and my father doesn’t travel lightly.

This is something else, and I shake my head at the freaking red carpet that’s been laid on the tarmac. Who the fuck does Malik think he is, visiting royalty?

I am entranced at the scene as the activity around the plane is immeasurable. It’s almost a swarm of men in black suits with dark shaded eyes. I watch with interest as they all fall into place, many occupying the cars, others guarding them and two with machine guns taking up their positions at the foot of the steps. Then I notice the airport workers, waiting to go about their daily jobs as they are held back from approaching the aircraft and for the first time since I was taken, I realize I am way out of my depth.

Who is Malik Karim and why does he need to be guarded so heavily? It doesn’t make sense and when he calls my name with a deep “Eliza.” I jump.

“We must leave. You will ride with me.”

He nods toward the aircraft door and as I make toward it, Ali coughs and nods to the space behind Malik.

My heart starts racing because, of course, I’m in his world now and even I know the men are in charge around here and I must show him due respect by walking behind him.

As Malik exits the plane, I wonder what he’s thinking. He appears so caught up in his own thoughts and barely even glanced at me. He is completely different from when we were alone in the cabin and remembering his cold conversation I wonder if this is the real Malik and the one I saw was just him playing a part to gain information.

Above everything, I’m glad I didn’t spill my secret because I doubt I’d be riding with him anywhere if I had. All the time he wants something from me I’m valuable to him and I expect he intends on keeping me close. This will be a huge problem for me because as soon as the opportune moment presents itself, I’m getting the hell out of here—alone.

CHAPTER19

MALIK

Seeing Eliza shrouded in darkness reminds me of where we are. I wasn’t kidding when I told her it was for her own protection because the last thing we need are prying eyes blowing her cover.

I maintain silence for the duration of the journey, and it appears that Eliza is more than happy about that. She sits as a shadow by my side, silent and contemplating my long and painful death, I’m sure.

I know she heard me on the plane. I was counting on it because I require her to play the part of a prisoner, not a woman who believes she has my dick in her hand. The fact we have been intimate brought with it problems because I need her to obey me for the plan to work and to do that she must fear what I will do.

The conversation was purely for Ali’s benefit. Even though he is my consigliere, I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him. He ultimately answers to my father and I understand that because he is the man paying his wages. Rather a lot as it happens to ensure his loyalty and I have no doubt he reports back to my father at the end of every day.

It amuses me to control him in this way. Often, I feed him information just to test my theory and it always works. Therefore, he needs to believe that I am merely fucking my prisoner to get her cooperation and now Eliza believes that too, it will make my job a lot easier.

We head into the city, and I note the curious stares of the people on the sidewalk. They are used to public displays of wealth, but a cavalcade such as this one tells them not to stare too long. Fear accompanies me wherever I go and none more so than in my hometown. Everyone knows the Karims and does their best to remain strangers.

We make our way into the underground carpark of one of the tallest buildings in Dubai and the car stops outside my private elevator. As the door opens, I drag Eliza out with me, my hand firmly gripping her wrist.

She huffs as I pull her into the elevator and Ali steps in beside us and we take the short ride to the penthouse.

When we reach it, Ali disappears to his own room, and I nod to Eliza to follow me. She almost has to run to keep up because the burqa is too long and threatens to trip her up.

As soon as we are inside, I waste no time in pulling the garment from her with haste and fastening my lips to hers in a rough and angry kiss.

She tries so hard to push me away, but I am too strong and as I grip her hair hard and ravage her mouth, I love the groan that tells me she’s loving every minute of this.

Eliza

I can’t help it. This man is my kryptonite because nothing he does or says makes me desire him less. Even if he intends on using me for his own pleasure makes my heart happy, which shows just how much he’s fucked with my mind.

He pushes me into the room, still kissing me as if it’s the most important thing in his life and as he tears at my clothes, I gasp, “What are you doing?”
