When I walk past the lounge area, I only see Tiernan. I’m guessing Clover and Charles are in their room. Diego is nowhere to be found. After he gave me the greatest orgasm I’ve ever had, he pretty much ran from me. I’m not going to chase after him.

Crap. I just got done hoping Barrow would fight for Bells. I think I should do the same for Diego. I’m crushing so hard on him. I’ve never felt this way about a guy. I’ve also never done the things I did with Diego with anyone else. I’ve never wanted anyone the way I want him.

When I enter the giant kitchen, I get to work on Bells’ cake. They have three refrigerators here and a freaking pantry the size of a bedroom. It takes me a little while to find everything I need, but they do have all the ingredients anyone would need to make whatever they wanted.

I preheat the oven before I start. Then I get to mixing, stirring and making a mess. I’m almost done when Diego walks into the kitchen. As soon as he sees me, he takes a step back. He doesn’t say a word to me, which is nothing out of the ordinary.

“I’m making a cake,” I tell him. He only nods. “I’ll let you lick the spoon.” Warmth rushes to my face as I remember what the last thing he licked was. I hold up the chocolate covered spoon to distract him.

“I was going to make a sandwich.”

“Okay.” I’m not sure what else to say. His eyes roam over me as I put the cake into the oven and set the timer. I drop the bowl into the sink. “Last chance.” I offer the spoon.

“Why don’t you eat it?” he asks as he pulls everything out that he needs to make his sandwich.

Tiernan strides in and gives us a look.

“I’m always on a diet.”

Diego stops making his sandwich to look at me. “You should eat what you want.”

“I wish,” I mumble. I start cleaning up the mess I made. When I turn to put the flour back in the pantry, I see Barrow and Tiernan staring at me. “What?”

“You really can sing,” Tiernan says.

I hadn't even realized I was singing. It’s a habit of mine whenever I’m just doing simple tasks.

“She’s mine.” Diego gives Tiernan a hard shove. All Tiernan does is laugh and hold his hands up.

“She’s all yours, I promise,” he says, but Diego still looks like he wants to kill his friend. I reach out and put my hand on Diego. He relaxes and looks down at me. He was jealous. It makes me want to jump up and down, but I control myself … for now.

“Are you going to try my cake when it’s done?” I try to change the subject.

“Yes.” Then he hands me a plate that has a giant sandwich on it. My stomach growls as I look at it. There’s even bacon on it. “You're going to eat this.”

“Okay,” I agree. I follow him out of the kitchen. I'd guess you would call this the dining room area. Around here it seems like everyone makes their own food, but I wonder if I made dinner every night if we would all eat together. I love to cook even with all the diet crap I’ve had to do over the years. I sit down and the thought hits me that I don’t really live here. This isn't my life. Pretty soon I’ll have to go back to reality.

Diego sits down next to me. He pulls my chair even closer to him. His arm goes around the back of it. I swear he’s blocking me so that no one else can see me. It's sweet. I glance up at Diego. Am I setting him up for heartbreak? I sure as hell am setting myself up for it.

“Eat,” he orders in the caveman tone of his that turns me on. I take a giant bite of the sandwich and let out a moan.

“This is the best thing I’ve ever eaten,” I say, not caring that my mouth is full of food. Here I am safe. I can be me. No one is going to snap a picture of me chowing down on food. Diego makes me feel welcome and warm, too.

“I’ve eaten better.”

My head snaps up. He gives me a smirk.

“Did you just make a joke?”

He shrugs while I take another bite of my sandwich. I hope the snow keeps falling. I want to be trapped here with Diego and my friends forever.

DIEGO

When she takes the cake from the oven, I eye it. Hard. We keep fit around here. It’s a habit from our time with whatever clandestine outfit trained us. But damn, Aurora knows how to bake.

My mouth waters for it and her as she places it on the stone counter.
