Simon gave Hudson an indecipherable look. “No. I think we should be done shortly.”

Hudson sat in a chair off to the side, stretched his legs, and said, “Don’t worry about me. Take your time.”

After Hudson came in, Eugene went silent, finishing the last touches on the jacket and pants silently. Ben was afraid that he’d made Eugene either mad or self-conscious because of the pin stick, but when Ben and Simon were in their street clothes, Eugene smiled at Ben. “I hope you have a fabulous time at the party, Ben. If nothing else, you’ll be the handsomest man there.”

Ben scoffed, looking at Simon. “Not even close,” he said.

Eugene chuckled. “Mr. Prince is yummy, isn’t he?”

There was a thump from behind them. He and Eugene looked around to see Hudson picking something off the floor.

“What? I just dropped my phone. Is that a crime now?”

Eugene muttered something under his breath in what Ben assumed was Korean. “I look forward to seeing you next time. Now if you’ll excuse me…” He walked to where a pile of boxes sat on a table, containing shirts and ties for both Simon and Ben. Eugene grabbed the whole stack and marched them over to Hudson. “Here,” he said, dropping them on Hudson’s lap. “Make yourself useful.”

Hudson grunted but kept the boxes from falling off his lap. His arms around them, he stood with a grace that surprised Ben, and strolled to the exit, presumably to put the boxes in the car. Simon glanced at Eugene then stared at Hudson with a concerned frown on his face. Then he walked over to Ben, took his good hand, and they walked to the car. They both got in the back seat and buckled up, but before Hudson started the car, he swore.

“Dammit.”

“What’s wrong, Hudson? Is it the car?” Simon asked.

“Um, no. I just forgot something in the shop.”

“Forgot what? You weren’t in there more than fifteen minutes.”

“My phone. I’ll be right back.”

After he left the car, Ben looked at Simon. “Did that seem weird to you?”

“Extremely.”

“Do you think Hudson’s interested in Eugene?”

Simon laughed loudly. “Um, no. Not a chance. Eugene is definitely not Hudson’s type.”

“Hmm.” Ben wasn’t so sure. “What is Hudson’s type?”

“Women,” Simon with a quirk of a smile on his handsome face. “Beautiful ones, from what I’ve seen. I don’t think Hudson is remotely interested in men.”

“Hmm,” Ben said again. “You weren’t interested in men before meeting me.”

Simon leaned down to kiss Ben. “True. But then I’d never been much interested in women, either. I’d love you no matter what’s in your pants.”

Hudson opened his door and got in the car. “Stop making out back there, you two. I just detailed this thing.”

“Don’t give me ideas, Hudson,” Simon taunted back.

Hudson shuddered. “Let’s just get home. You can canoodle there.”

“Canoodle?” Ben asked. “What’s canoodling?”

“When we get back to the house,” Simon said with a twinkle in his eye, “I’ll show you.”

Ben, as it turned out, was a fan of canoodling.
