Tank’s right. I’m in fucking trouble when it comes to this girl.

Chapter 5

Danielle

The makeshift dance floor is packed, and I’m surprised to find I’m actually having a great time. Who would have known these hockey boys would know how to throw such a good party?

The guys crowd me, and I absolutely love it. Jaxon reaches out and attempts to pull me into him, but I squirm out of his grasp and back up as another set of arms circle my waist and pull me in tight. I stiffen in his hold. “Relax,” Miller says, his soft tone in my ear. “It’s me.”

I relax into his hold and continue dancing with his hard body pressed against mine, a thrill shooting through my veins. Everything about him is a red flag, warning me to pull away, but I can’t find the strength to run in the opposite direction. He’s drawing me in, and it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced.

Miller turns me in his arms as we continue dancing. When the music slows, things become hot. He pushes his knee between my legs, and as my gaze raises to his, I find myself grinding against him.

I suck in a breath as Miller lowers his face to mine, and I watch as his eyes dip to my lips. God, I desperately want to feel them against mine, but I can’t let that happen. “Don’t even think about it, hotshot,” I tell him, bringing my finger up and pressing it against his warm lips, gently pushing his face away.

He nips at my finger, and an excited gasp slips out of me, which of course, he hears loud and clear. Miller smirks down at me, and I see the hunger in his eyes.

Damn. I have to put a stop to this.

I turn back around in his arms and feel him pull me even closer against his strong body. His excitement is evident as he moves his hips against my ass, and good God it feels incredible.

We dance for what feels like hours when he takes me by the hand and pulls me off the dancefloor. “Want a drink?” he asks as he heads into the kitchen. My eyes study his firm ass through his dark jeans, and the urge to grab it rocks through my body. Miller turns and smirks at me. “Were you looking at my ass?” he questions.

Crap. Sprung. “No,” I lie.

He stops in the hallway and pulls me into him, once again catching me around the waist. “You’re a terrible liar,” he says, his eyes sparkling as he watches me.

I smile up at him, completely consumed by this man. Oh well, I may as well own it. “Okay, so what? I was looking at your ass. I’ll be seeing a lot more of you at some point. Why not start now?”

Miller laughs, and the sound wraps around me like a warm caress. Then, letting me off the hook, he lets me go and continues dragging me into the kitchen. “So, what do you think?”

“It’s a nice ass,” I tell him, not bothering to hold back anymore. Hell, he knows it. I know it. Everyone in the room knows it. There’s no point in lying.

He looks back over his shoulder and smirks once again, doing things to me that I’m really not ready for. I watch as he makes his way around the kitchen and opens the fridge, pulling out a beer. “Want one?”

“Sure.”

He twists the cap off and hands me the drink in his hand before turning back to the fridge and grabbing one for himself. Placing the bottle caps onto the counter, he leads us outside. I glance around at the state of the house, seeing nothing but littered bottles, knocked-over cups, and tables upturned. I would hate to be the guy responsible for cleaning up this mess.

“Whose place is this?” I ask as we step out into the breeze.

He glances across at me with a guilty expression. “Mine,” he says.

“Really?” I laugh, taking another look around. “It’s going to suck being you in the morning.”

He grins and grabs my hand, leading me around the side of the pool, and just as I go to take another step, he spins me to face him, pulling me in hard as those deep eyes seem to stare straight into my soul. I see his lips and suck in a breath, the need to kiss him is the only thing on my mind. His eyes become hooded, and just as I go to push up onto my tippy-toes, some drunken idiot bumps into me and sends me flying right into the deep pits of the freezing water.

Shock grips me as I hastily swim up to the surface, shivers rattling through my bones. I resurface to find the drunken idiot knocked out on the ground and a concerned Miller looking down on me with wild, crazed eyes. “Fuck, babe. You okay?”
