I shrug as if it’s no big deal. “Was the biggest man-whore,” I correct. “There has never been a girl worth taking out. Not until you.”

“But you’ve had girlfriends, right?” she asks, a little confused.

“Yeah,” I laugh. “I’ve had plenty, but never thought they were worth dating. I just kept them around for the easy ass.”

“Oh, God,” she laughs, swatting at my chest. “That’s so wrong.”

“Hey, I was a different guy back then,” I defend, catching her hands and pulling her into my chest.

She laughs, then looks up at me with a nervous glint in her eye. “Did you want to stay the night?”

“Baby, you know I do. But you better be sure because I’m not going to be able to say no,” I tell her honestly.

“I’m sure,” she smiles, then takes me by the hand and leads me inside to her bedroom, where I show her all over again just how much she means to me.

Chapter 15

Danielle

I never thought waking up next to a man could be so amazing. I mean, sure, I’d woken up beside Brett countless times, but with Miller, it’s different. It’s right.

I snuggle into his warm body and his arms tighten around me. “Good morning,” he croons, his voice thick with sleep.

“Morning.” I roll in his arms and place a feather-soft kiss on his lips before sitting up in bed and trying to scoot to the edge.

“Where do you think you’re going?” he questions as he grabs my waist and pulls me back down to the bed, pinning my body with his. He hovers above me, his dark gaze fixed on mine.

“I have to pee,” I laugh as I try to escape from under him.

“Just five more minutes,” he begs, adjusting his body harder into mine so I can feel his arousal.

I separate my legs and hook them around his hips so I can feel his length pressing against my core. “Damn it,” I laugh as I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him down to me.

Miller groans and brings his lips down to my neck, forcing a moan out of me, and I grind myself up against him, his hand disappearing down between my legs. His fingers circle my clit then slide down to my entrance to find me ready and waiting.

My hands move down his toned body, and I hook my thumbs into the waistband of his underwear, before pushing them down just enough to free his thick cock.

The need for him is too great, and I bypass the foreplay and curl my fingers around his length before guiding him inside me. We both groan as he thrusts into me, seating himself deep inside. He takes control and pushes me over the edge not two minutes later.

We come together, panting against each other’s skin. “I could get used to waking up like that,” he murmurs, his gaze so soft and sincere.

“Me too,” I whisper, running my nails up and down his strong, muscled back.

“Alright,” he says a moment later, sitting up and pulling me with him. “Get your ass dressed so I can take you out for breakfast.”

A wide grin stretches across my face, and I quickly rush through a shower, rinsing the chlorine from my hair, before darting back into my room and getting dressed. I hear Miller out in the kitchen chatting away to Tank, Jared, and Ashton, and I can’t help but smile. I love the way our two groups are coming together.

After pulling on a yellow summer dress, I throw my hair up into a messy bun and finish off the look with a little mascara and lip gloss. I stand in front of the mirror and am pleased to find the old me. The me who was confident and happy. The me who found herself sexy and bold, not the jumpy, uneasy girl Brett turned me into. I have Miller to thank for that.

Miller Cain has saved me from myself.

Grabbing my handbag, I pull my phone from the charger on my bedside table to find a text from an unknown number. I quickly scan over it on my way out of my room.

Unknown - Baby, I miss you. Did you get my flowers? Come back to me.

Anxiety pulses through my body and I find myself pausing in the hallway. It couldn’t be Brett, could it? Has he found my new number already? And why, after all this time?

Dani - Who is this?

Unknown - It’s Brett. I wasn’t lying when I said you were mine. I want you back, Dani. You know we’re perfect together.

Holy crap. The flowers were from him. God, now I’m glad Sophie stole them off the dining table and put them in her room.

Fear trickles through me, but I know it’s stupid. I’m with Miller now, and there’s not a damn thing Brett can do about it. He’s stupid if he thinks I’ll ever go back to him after the hell he put me through.
