She looked up from her books and set down her pencil. “It’s eight o’clock.”

“Yeah.”

A smile dawned across her face. “Oh. I get it.”

“What do you get?”

“You’re about to go have sex with Duke, aren’t you?”

“Okay, whoa.” I held up my hand. “Please don’t talk like that ever again.”

“Ever?”

“Well, at least wait until you’re eighteen.”

“Noted.” She snorted. “Is that where you’re going?”

“No. I’m not going to have sex with Duke,” I promised.

“Then where are you going?”

“I left something at the clubhouse the night of the party,” I lied. “And I haven’t seen Duke or Savage since that night.”

“What did you leave at the clubhouse?” she pressed.

I paused. “I really should’ve thought this lie through better.”

“Yeah, you should’ve.” She grinned. “Tell Duke I said hi.”

“I’ll be back before ten,” I promised. “You’ll be okay?”

“Yep. I’m going to finish my homework, take a shower, and then cut up some of my T-shirts.”

“Your new ones?”

“Yeah. The way Mia showed me. I want to wear them to school and show them off.”

“Okay. Call if you need me.”

“I won’t need you.” She dove back into her homework.

“Sometimes, your words; they hurt,” I teased.

I drove to the clubhouse where I knew Savage and Duke would be. They lived there full time, not having any need or reason to rent a place. At the clubhouse, they had private rooms and a cleaning service that came twice a week. The Old Ladies cooked in batches and they never went without. It was a cheap, easy life where they could stay close to their brothers and the club.

Crow and South Paw saw my car and immediately opened the gates. I waved to them as I drove through. I parked, locked my car, and marched up the clubhouse steps.

The living room was empty, but I saw the liquor bottles open on the counter, so I knew they were here. I headed to the back yard.

There was a fire going, and Savage, Duke, Acid, and a few others I didn’t know were sitting around, passing liquor bottles back and forth. Savage had a woman on his lap and so did the silver fox who wore a Blue Angels cut but was definitely not a member of the Waco chapter.

Nomad, probably.

“Willa,” Savage called out. “Grab a beer, sit with us.”

“I need to have a word with you,” I said, my voice low. My gaze darted to Duke. “Both of you.”

“Bitch’s got attitude. I like it.”
