“Huh, strange. Well, enough sitting around here. Let’s go !” I pull my husband up out of his chair and out onto the dancefloor.

Josef is still not a hundred percent healed, so he can’t dance for very long. Honey is having fun kicking her feet along with Ghost, trying to follow his Russian dance steps. Josef kisses me and excuses himself, saying he needs to sit and talk to Ghost.

Epilogue Part 2

JOSEF

“Can I help you, brother-in-law?” my new sister-in-law asks as I move between her and Ghost.

“May I borrow him for a few minutes?” I ask, leaving her and my wife to have fun. The sisters continue dancing along with Johnny and Mari‘s cousins.

At my table, I motion for Ghost to sit down. I pull my medallion out of my shirt and show it to him. His eyes widen.“Where did you get that?” he asks.

“My mother gave it to me when I was little,” I say. Ghost pulls out his wallet and shows me a picture. It’s the woman I saw in my memory at the shed, the woman in the van's back window.

“Jasha.”

“What?” I ask

“My brother, Jasha. Mama gave this,” he pulls out his medallion,” Mama gave this same one to me and my brother Jasha. Jasha was taken. By who, we never find out.”

“Your parents. Are they alive?” I ask, trying to soak in all this new information.

“Papa die long ago, peaceful in bed. Mama home in Russia,” he says. I feel my eyes welling up.

“I have a real mother,” I say as tears begin streaming down my face. I look up at Ghost.

“Jasha?” he asks in disbelief.

“I think so, yes,” I say, nodding my head.

“Brother!” Ghost gets up, comes over, and hugs me tight. It hurts my shoulder, but I don’t care.

“What’s going on here?” Mari asks, with her sister standing next to her.

“Mari, I’d like you to meet my brother, Petr,” I say, remembering him a little more.

“This is true,” Ghost says, “I’ve not heard that name, Petr, in long time.”

“You two are Brothers?” Mari asks.

“We just find out!” Ghost says and raises his glass.

“That’s wonderful!” Mari says, taking her sister, Ghost, and me in a group hug.

“Wait, that doesn’t mean we’re related, does it?” Hanako asks, taking a step back, swaying a bit.

“No, Honey,” Mari laughs. “Not like that.”

I explain it to them, leaving out some of the details. Mari agrees to extend our planned honeymoon in Japan to include a few extra days in Russia. Our guests continue having fun throughout the reception until it’s time for them to go. Now my wife and I will continue our celebration in private. I’m a bit nervous.

We enter our house together and head straight for the bedroom. Mari is nearly as tall as I am, wearing not-so-traditional high heels with her kimono. She grabs me in a hug, pulling me in tight. Her face moves to mine, and she gives me a soft kiss. I hug her tighter, our mouths open, and our tongues meet and twirl around each other’s. Mari pulls back a second, her amber eyes looking into mine.

“I’m hard,” I say.

“I noticed. It’s just nature,” Mari says. We both smile until she takes a step back. “Time to let nature take its full course. Now I need you inside of me.”
