“That’s your new Mommy princess; she’s going to look after you. Mommy’s gonna treat you like the little queen you are,” Jett reassured Amelia, his voice soft and gentle.

“Mommy is making pancakes with whipped cream, syrup and bananas, Daddy. Amelia decided she wanted them this morning.” I said, as Jett winked at Amelia. She tilted her head to study us, and I wondered what Amelia was thinking.

“That sounds messy, princess. You want Daddy to help you eat them?” Jett asked her, and now Amelia studied him. Jett took that as a yes, rose to his feet, hooked his foot around and chair, and dragged it over to sit with Amelia. He sat down and began clapping his hands together and then hers.

“Let’s cheer, Mommy and the pancakes!” Jett whispered to Amelia, and then they both faced me. God, they looked so alike it was uncanny. My heart leapt again as Amelia clapped once on her own. Progress! I flipped the first pancake and then carried on with the bananas. A few minutes later, I put the pancake on a plate and made a banana smile, eyes and nose with syrup and whipped cream beard and hair.

Amelia’s eyes opened wide as she stared at what I had placed in front of her. Before either Jett or I moved to help, Amelia grabbed hold and tried to shovel the whole thing into her mouth. Her face and hair were covered in cream and sticky goo within seconds. Uh oh, that hadn’t been a good idea. Jett’s gaze narrowed on our daughter, and then he got up, fetched a damp cloth, and wiped Amelia clean.

“Why don’t we get Daddy to cut it up for you?” I asked Amelia, and she clutched the plate close to her. Hell, Amelia thought we would take her food. Tears pooled in my eyes, and Jett visibly struggled to control his temper. Amelia looked at Jett and shoved more pancake into her mouth. I made a second, and Jett whipped the mess of the first one away, and before Amelia reached for it, Jett held up his hand.

“Amelia, you know Mommy and Daddy have given you a new name?” Jett asked. Amelia’s little sticky head tilted towards him. She blinked and dropped her eyes. An awful sensation hit me when I realised Amelia had learnt it was bad to hold eye contact. If Dina had been anywhere near, I’d have throttled her.

“Hey,” I whispered, approaching, and Amelia looked alarmed. “Don’t be afraid of your daddy; he loves you very much. I love you very much. If you want pancakes every morning, we’ll give you them, little angel.”

“Mommy and Daddy called you Amelia because it’s a princess name,” Jett spoke softly. My heart melted at this badass biker being so gentle with a child. “And you’re mine and Mommy’s angel, so you need a special name, but princesses don’t eat with their hands, sweetheart. They use a knife and fork. Want Daddy to show you how?”

Amelia looked at us for a few minutes, and then I saw Jett’s eyes light up as she nodded. He started cutting up her pancake and feeding it to her. Amelia opened her mouth, mimicking a baby bird.

“Chew,” Jett told her. Amelia granted Jett another nod and began chewing her food. As Jett fed his daughter for the first time, I carried on flipping pancakes.

After breakfast, we decided Amelia quite desperately needed a wash again. While I ran the water, testing the temperature continuously, Jett stripped her sticky clothes off. I closed my eyes to keep the image of Jett carrying Amelia protectively in his arms into the bathroom. I’d made bubbles for her, and Amelia’s gaze widened at the magic in front of her. Gently, I pulled off her diaper, which was luckily only wet, and sat her in the water. Amelia looked startled, and I realised she’d never experienced a bath. Honestly, I wanted to do worse than just throttle Dina right now, but Amelia took priority.

“If I ever get my hands on Dina, I’ll kill her,” Jett muttered. “Bitch abused my child. Neglected her at every turn.”

I placed my hand on Jett’s as we watched our daughter play in her first bath. I had a sense we’d be seeing many of Amelia’s firsts.

Reid came in with empty bottles and crouched down. Slowly, Reid showed Amelia how to fill them and then squirt them at people. We were soaked by the time she’d finished, and my heart broke because while she’d clearly enjoyed herself, Amelia hadn’t laughed or giggled once. Getting her out of the bath, the three of us figured out how to put a diaper on her. I wasn’t sure if Amelia should be toilet trained or not and made a mental note to check with Phoe. We got her dressed, and Jett carried Amelia downstairs while I showered.

When I came down, I found Jett lying on his back while Amelia perched on top. Reid sat next to Jett and played peekaboo with her. Amelia pointed at him every time Reid covered his eyes, and when Reid uncovered them, she dropped her arm. I took her while Jett washed. Reid had already bathed. He was intent on coming shopping with us.

Reid scored significant sales in the past week on our rare books and papers, and we were comfortable again. Of course, the sale of the Downing auction had shoved us into the black, but the last few transactions put us well and truly into a large comfort zone. This meant that we could splash out today. Jett had been making rumblings about a pickup or truck as, obviously, Amelia couldn’t go on the back of his bike.

We’d had a brief argument when he realised I intended to spend money, so we’d come to a truce. I’d buy Amelia’s clothes and baby toiletries. Jett would buy the big stuff she needed and the toys. Reid planned to buy whatever he wanted, and he didn’t bother arguing, just claimed we owed him! It was an agreement that stopped all arguments. We piled into Reid’s truck, and he drove us into town, where I literally went nuts. The guys had to do two car runs, and I hadn’t even started on the toiletries!

Jett carried Amelia on his hip while we were shopping, ignoring the pushchair we had at the house. It was panty meltingly hot, and Jett was oblivious to the stares he received. His aviator-covered gaze remained firmly fixed on either Amelia or me, boosting my ego. More than one snide look was aimed in my direction as Jett tugged me around by my hand. Many incredulous looks asked, what the hell is he doing with her? Ha! My husband is scorching!

I giggled when Jett first yanked me to one of the most exclusive jewellery shops in Rapid City and picked out an engagement ring. The woman who had been drooling over Jett was confused when she saw my wedding ring. Jett raised an eyebrow at her when she double-checked. Bluntly Jett told her he’d been so eager to make me his wife he’d dragged me to the altar and screw the engagement. I buried my head in his shoulder, giggling as the woman stared like we were insane.

Jett paid for a stunning emerald and diamond ring and then searched for an eternity ring along the same lines. By the time we’d left, Jett had dropped ten thousand dollars on my rings, to my horror, and he’d stopped any argument with one glare. Glaring back at Jett, I bought Amelia a cross in rose gold, and his lips twitched. God, I loved this man.

Only then did Jett let me loose in a clothes store for Amelia. He held her while I pushed the cart around and threw in outfits. Little jeans and dungarees, tee’s, skirts, and dresses all got inspected before being given the seal of approval. I spent far too much on hair accessories, and Jett found me cooing over tights and tiny socks. Jett rolled his eyes when I filled the cart and guided me to the cashier before I bought more. I snuck in three more dresses on the way to pay for our purchases.

Jett didn’t blink when I paid for them, and then we hit a toy store. I was surprised Jett didn’t go as mad as I had, but Jett bought a few items. When I tried to get him to buy outdoor toys, Jett just shook his head at me. I pouted while he paid his far cheaper bill. However, Jett spent a fortune ordering furniture for Amelia’s bedroom in the new house. We met Reid outside the Reading Nook, where he had his own arms full of bags. Reid had bought Amelia books and toys of his own. Which Reid dumped into the boot of his car and then drove it the short distance to the Rage forecourt.

I was teasing both of them when we entered the clubhouse, and a loud roar greeted us. Amelia instantly hid in Jett’s neck, visibly jumping in his arms. Jett held her tight and then pried her little face free to see all his brothers and old ladies waiting for us. We’d had the hog roast last night, but this was different. To one side of the clubhouse were several tables laden with food, and a huge stack of presents stood next to it. Some were wrapped, and some weren’t. I gave Jett a sideways glance as I realised there were many toys.

“My brothers, babe,” Jett muttered. Tears rose in my eyes when I guessed the Rage brothers had been out buying gifts for a baby who’d probably never even had one. Phoe’s kids ran screaming past, led by Eddie, waving her arms above her head and hollering something. Ezra bent down and scooped the hellion up before she wrecked the clubhouse. The others stopped, and Eddie pointed in our direction.

“A new biker, babe!” Eddie screeched, and I saw Phoe give her a look I wouldn’t argue with. The child ignored her mother, wriggled free, and dashed over to Jett and me. “Down, Jett,” Eddie demanded. Jett bent down and allowed Eddie to check out Amelia.

“This is Amelia,” Jett told Eddie, who was still appraising Amelia. Although Eddie had met her last night, Amelia had been asleep. To my surprise, Amelia was no less curious about Eddie. Jett put her feet on the floor, and Eddie gently reached out a hand.

“We got you presents, Amelia, lots and lots’a them. Wanna come open them?” Eddie asked Amelia, who nodded after glancing at Jett and me for approval. I snuck my hand into Jett’s as he stood up, and I choked back tears as Amelia was led away. She sent several wary glances over her shoulder to check Jett, and I remained, and then Amelia plopped herself next to Eddie.

“You gotta wait. Our uncles will bring their presents,” Tony told Amelia as he sat beside her. Phoe and Drake’s cute little boy patted Amelia’s hand. “This is from Eddie and me,” Tony said, giving her a strangely wrapped present. Amelia looked at it, not knowing what to do, and my tears rose again, almost choking me.

Before Jett or I could move to show Amelia what to do, Texas was there, sinking his massive body next to Amelia. Her eyes grew huge at the sight of the gigantic man. Texas lifted his hands slowly, and Amelia watched him, looking ready to bolt.
