I move with him, matching each thrust for several minutes until he finally stops and collapses on top of me. He buries his face in the crook of my neck, breathing raggedly in my ear. My fingers inch along his back and strum the cords of muscle while his galloping heart slows.

“Jesus Christ, woman. You tryin’ to kill me?”

I laugh. “Me? You’re the one who almost split me in half.”

His dick twitches in victory.

Minutes later, Jack pulls back, looks down at me, and gives me a radiant smile that reaches his eyes.

“What am I going to do with you?”

I grin. “I could think of a few things.”

“Give me a few minutes to recover.”

“Fine. Then let me get up while you recover.”

Reluctantly, he rolls off me and I tiptoe to the bathroom. When I return, Diogi is curled up on the bed beside Jack.

“He doesn’t listen very well.”

I rub my dog’s head. “No, he doesn’t.”

After a few attempts to get Diogi to move, Jack intervenes, and the dog moves immediately.

I slip back into bed, pull the comforter up, and face my lover who’s propped on an elbow, staring at me.

“What?” I ask.

“I knew we’d end up here; I didn’t think it would be tonight.”

I twist my lips and roll my eyes.

“I’m serious. You and I, we had chemistry even before we even met in person.”

I drop my chin, embarrassment washing over me because of my actions. “I didn’t know it was you.”

“I didn’t either until tonight.”

We fall silent for several minutes.

“Tell me what you’re thinking about.”

I glance into his eyes, wondering if he can read my mind.

“When we talked online, you said there was someone else…”

He inhales quietly and tucks my hair behind my ear. “It was you. You were the someone else, Savannah.”

“Really?”

His smile is confirming.

“Wait, so you broke up with me for me?”

“It appears that way.”

“You realize this is crazy, right?”

He kisses me softly. “It is what it is.”

“And you have no interest in my daughter?” I question.

“Not in that way, but I would like to get to know her.”

In the depth of his searing gaze, I see a future. Maybe not forever, but for now.
