Ah, so this is the one.

I had expected his voice to be baritone, but it was light and soft while carrying a tone of authority.

I was so gone over his looks that it took me a moment to respond to him. "Uh, welcome to King's Oak Lodge. Are you Mr. Adams?" I asked.

Pull yourself together! He’s just another handsome guy.

I was lost in his charms: his blue eyes, perfect jawline, heart-shaped lips, high cheekbones—it all gave him a sculpted look. I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing in my town, at my lodge.

Chapter 3

Trev

Onthedrivefromthe airport to the Lodge, my reluctance about this trip lessened. The scenery was lush and green everywhere. I could feel myself calming down.

What is a beauty such as herself doing in a place like this?

That was the first thought that came into my head when I saw the attendant at the check-in desk of the Lodge. Her long black silky hair shone, and her round face was gorgeous in a sort of angelic way. Her full round lips were all I stared at as she spoke. They called out to me.

I noticed her green eyes scrutinizing my whole body.

Checking me out? Go right ahead, my beauty!

Up close, she was shorter than I expected. I guessed her to be around five foot seven.

"Come with me. I'll take you to your room," she said as she came out from behind the counter. Her figure was curvy, with full thighs and gently swelled buttocks on display through her tight jeans. The way her top fit her promised very perky breasts indeed.

"There's the option of breakfast and dinner, but you will need to inform me that you're eating the night before, please, and I will just add the price of the meals to your bill," she said as she walked up the stairs and I followed behind her, staring at her very enticing behind.

"I'll think about that," I said, my eyes still glued to her backside.

At the top of the stairs was a longish passageway, with rooms on each side. I wondered how many rooms they had in all. We got to the last door on the left.

"This is you," she said, opened the door, and went in. She turned and handed me a traditional door key.

No electronics here, I see. Really old school.

The room was small compared to my bedroom back at my house. It had only one window that overlooked the driveway of the Lodge. I could see who was coming and going out through it. There was a wooden wardrobe, a door that I believed led to the bathroom, and a chair near the bed. I couldn't believe there were still beds as small as the one in the room. I eyed the room with dismay. I wasn't impressed. I just had to deal with it.

"Uh, sorry, but what is your Wi-Fi passcode?" I asked.

She looked at me like I had just asked her for a ticket to the moon; the pout mixed with amusement on her face made me feel a bit embarrassed.

"Wi-Fi passcode? Sir, we don’t have internet here."

Whoa! This is a shock! What game is Eric playing with me here? He knows I live and breathe internet! I will kill him!

And to think I just booked six weeks solid here …

"My room is at the other end of the hall. If you ever need anything don't hesitate to reach out to me." She then said, "I'll leave you to settle in. I have included you for dinner tonight as our usual welcome courtesy. But please don't forget to book this evening for tomorrow’s meals. You can eat in your room or come downstairs to the dining room. Just let us know." With that, she left the room.

No internet? Great damnation!

Well, man? Be honest with yourself here. You have absolutely nothing to enter into the keyboard right now anyway! Chill! And that's why I'm here anyway. To chill …

I walked over to the window and looked out. The orange setting sun dyed the tops of the green trees and the clear blue sky. All beautiful scenes. But as soon as I turned back and saw the bed, I had half a mind to leave the Lodge.

Well,I'm already here, might make the best of it.Plenty of time to kill Eric for this when I get back.
