Truthfully, most of the house was still filled with empty walls, stacks of boxes, and half-arranged furniture. But that was mostly because we had just moved in a little less than a week agoandGeorgia was a perfectionist when it came to picking out the perfect décor. If it were only the time constraint, I would have paid someone to unpack and organize everything, just so Georgie didn’t have to deal with the stress of the mess.

She looked up at me, a book in her lap and a breathtaking smile on her face. “Yes, baby. This is the living room.”

“Jesus,” I muttered on a laugh. “Family room, living room, mud room…it’s hard to keep it all straight. I’m starting to think we bought too big of a house.” Oh, man. I could only imagine what my father would say when he got a chance to come see this place. He had been drilling practicality into my head for years, and normally, I had no trouble following his teaching. Obviously, though, the thought of exciting my wife with the house of her dreams did a good job of getting me a little carried away.

Georgie snorted and lifted one knowing index finger to point in my direction. “Well, you only have yourself to blame for that, baby. You’re the one who picked it out.”

I grinned at that. I would take the blame from her and the scrutiny from my father, because one look from her, and I knew I’d hit my goal right on the head. “Only because I knew it would make you happy.”

The instant she had seen this house, it was love at first sight, the attachment damn near as strong as Walter’s codependency for his canine lover, Stan.

“Wait…don’tyoulike the house?” she asked, tilting her head to the side.

I shrugged. “Baby, you should know by now that the only thing I need in a house is you inside it. The rest? I don’t really care about the specifics.”

Georgia smiled, and the faintest hint of pink highlighted her cheeks. “Goodness, you’re going to have to reel in that swoon of yours, Mr. Brooks.”

“And why is that, Mrs. Brooks?”

“Because it’s dangerous,” she proclaimed, eyes serious. “One day, I swear, it might make me pass out or, hell, make my panties just gopoofand disappear into thin air. Could you imagine if we were in public when something like that happened?”

“Oh, I can imagine you without panties anywhere, baby. It’s my superpower.” I waggled my brows and walked toward her. It didn’t take long before I was lifting her off the couch and into my arms, gently wrapping her thighs around my waist.

Stan groaned a little at the disruption of his sleep, but when Walter curled up next to his head, he smacked his lips a few times and went back to relaxing.

“I missed you today,” I whispered, and her smile only grew.

“You just saw me this morning.” She wrapped her arms around my neck, and I didn’t hesitate to press a kiss to her smiling lips.

“Exactly. Nine fucking hours ago,” I retorted and rubbed my nose against hers. “Which is why you need to quit working for that bastard boss of yours and come back to work for me.”

She giggled and rolled her eyes at the same time. “That bastard boss of mine is one of your best friends.”

“I don’t give a fuck. Tell Wes Lancaster you’re done working for his little football team and you’re ready to come back to Brooks Media.”

“And what would be the benefits of working at Brooks Media?”

“Orgasmic lunch breaks,” I returned swiftly and without hesitation, and she rolled her eyes again.

“Thatis exactly why I should stay where I’m at.”

“What?” I fake frowned. “You don’t like when I give you orgasms, Benny girl?”

“Don’t be dramatic,” she said with a laugh I could feel in the depths of my chest. “You know I love it. I love it too much, in fact.” She bit her lip as she stared at mine, adding softly, “We’d never get any work done.”

I gripped her perfect, lush ass in my hands. “We’d get tons done. It might not be related to Brooks Media or any of our subsidiaries, but oh baby, would weeverget it done.”

“That’s exactly what I’m talking about!” She snorted and playfully slapped my chest.

Unfortunately, she didn’t stay put and, instead, placed a smacking kiss to my lips and gently disentangled herself from my arms until her feet were firmly back on the ground.

“Where are you going?” I questioned with a whine.

She winked over her shoulder. “Into the kitchen.”

“Which kitchen? The room I think is the kitchen?” I questioned. “Or a different kitchen?”

“Theonlykitchen, smartass,” she retorted on a laugh. “Where our dinner is currently located in the oven.”
