“Have I pushed you too fast?”

“I don’t think so. I pushed you hard in the beginning to open up but I didn’t challenge myself to keep pace. You gained your grounding before I did and pulled me along. I needed that.”

“So, no regrets about outing our marriage?”

“None.” His gaze turns all primal and possessive. “You’re mine, and tonight after the show airs everyone will know it.”

I wrinkle my nose at him. “Remember this when the press is outside our door come morning.”

That earns me a rueful grimace. “I’m not looking forward to that. I’ve increased security but I still don’t like the idea of you going off to work and carrying on as usual.”

“We’ve gone over it, Mick. I’m done with hiding.” I rub moisturizer on my face. “Even Asher and Lex said if I avoid the press after the interview airs it will only prolong the curiosity. I want to get that part over with and live our lives.”

“I won’t argue with that.”

I know Mick’s acceptance is more indulgence than surrender. But I use the opportunity to tease when I brush past him. “I like this agreeable side of you.”

“Oh yeah?” He gives my ass a playful swat that stings my flesh. But it’s the sudden desire burning in his eyes that sends goosebumps racing across my skin.

Following me into the bedroom, Mick strips out of his clothes and I eagerly climb onto the bed. With the daylight surrounding us, I pull the scrunchie from my hair, toss out my curls, and beckon him with the crook of my finger.

Mick approaches, all deliciously hard. He crawls over me, braced on his arms. We’re barely touching and yet I can feel that electric heat pumping off his body. He’s so powerfully male, I only have to think of him to want him.

I push Mick onto his back and straddle his thighs, feeling him thick and pulsing against the silk of my panties.

“Taking advantage of my agreeability?” he asks, placing his big hands on my hips and directing me over his cock.

“Ha.” I look down at him. “As if I don’t know you’re still controlling things. Topping from the bottom.”

He removes his hands and clasps them beneath his head in a gesture of submission, but the smile on his face is pure unapologetic dominance. “I’m all yours, Mrs. Peters. Feel free to have your way with me.”

“Oh, I will.” I rotate my hips and comb my fingers down his chest. “I’m about to rock your world.”

“Beauty…” His eyes glimmer with a depth of emotion. “You did that from the moment I met you.”

ChapterThirty-Three

Dee

Monday morning brings April showersand the press. Several news vans are parked at the curb and more than a dozen reporters are huddled on the sidewalk under umbrellas. Mick’s tension manifests itself in the form of a drill sergeant.

“Stiles will drive you today,” he says, standing at the dresser, barking out orders. “Keep your head down. Don’t react, don’t answer.”

“Yes, sir.” I salute.

“This isn’t a joke, Dee. I should go with you.”

I finish tucking my blouse into my skirt, and send him an adamant glance. “You are not going to take me to work. I can do this.”

“I know you can. But you haven’t faced this before. So, humor me.”

“Why do you think I married you?”

He huffs out a laugh. “You’re a riot.”

I smile and give him a hug. “I promise I’m not taking any of this lightly. I just need to do it without getting all freaked out in my head.”

He inches back. The stubborn lines of his jaw yield as he regroups. “I don’t want you freaking out. Just aware.”
