He chuckles and pulls my legs tighter around him. “Need I remind you that you said yesbeforeyou saw it?”

“I know, but you know you could have proposed with no ring, and I would have said yes.” He begins walking to the bedroom. “Hey, we still need to clean up!”

“Not before I make love to my fiancée, until she can’t walk for a week.” With a knowing look, he tells me the only thing I want to hear, “You’re mine, Emma.”

One Year Later

“E,weneedtogo!”

“I know, I know! You try getting five kids packed for a weekend!”I am going to kiss that sass right out of her the minute she gets downstairs.

A year ago, I asked her to marry me. On the car ride home, I asked her to move in. I know, a little backwards, but we decided that we would buy a bigger house as soon as we found the perfect one. I didn't want to spend another night without her, but blending our families needed to be done the right way.

I love our kids, and the life we’re building,so fucking much. Noah, Charlie, and Aiden are my boys now, too. Jason may be their actual father, but they also call me dad. He was the one that encouraged it. I’ll never forget when he told me, “There’s no such thing as too much love.” I get why Emma maintains a strong friendship with him after their marriage—he wants what’s best for his kids and for her. He comes over every Tuesday for dinner, sometimes bringing Charlotte, since she lives next door to him now. This is what I envisioned when I imagined a life with Emma—a revolving door of friends and family in our home.

Once we were settled in our new house, I started working from home. When she was promoted to President, I knew her time would be limited, and I wanted to be sure our kids had the best possible homelife with all of the big changes happening. I love that I can support her taking on the literary world, and when she comes home to me and the kids, I get to spoil her the way she deserves.

Ethan is one hell of an event planner! I was in awe at how he took everything Emma and I wanted and created the perfect wedding last fall. It was small—less than a hundred people—at the lake that’s been our special place since our first trip. Thinking back to my conversation with him over burgers, he must be a psychic—he was Emma’s man of honor, I did indeed thank him in my speech for helping me win Emma back, and he even left with someone after the wedding. Only, I don’t think it was a bridesmaid, because it was just Ethan, Lily, Riley, and Charlotte in Emma’s bridal party. It’s because of him that I get to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life, and he makes sure to remind me of it every time I see him. I don’t mind indulging him—if it wasn’t for his little plan to help me win her back, we might not be where we are today.

I bought her a cabin for her birthday. Hardest present in the world to keep secret! I originally intended it to be a Christmas present, but it wasn’t ready in time. To keep her off my scent, I booked a trip for all of our family to spend Christmas in London, so she could visit Jane Austen’s home and the kids could see all of the Harry Potter stuff there. Harriet fell in love with the city, so we are now looking at colleges there for her. Emma insists it would be the perfect place for an aspiring fantasy author, but I don't like the idea of her being so far from home. With the cabin finally ready, we are headed up there today, just the two of us, for her birthday. I convinced my parents to take all of the kids for the weekend, giving us a much needed solo trip.

Asweapproachtheresort, I look down at my gorgeous wife, who’s napping on my shoulder. I didn’t think it was possible, but I have fallen more in love with her every single day. Kissing the top of her head, I wake her. “E, we’re here.”

She shifts back into her seat and yawns. “Sorry, I fell asleep.”

“It’s ok, baby. We had a long week, you needed to rest.” I reach over to take her hand in mine and squeeze three times before releasing it. “Let's go in and get our keys.”

We head to the reception area where most of the staff know our names by now, with how often we’ve come up in the last year. Our favorite, Tamra, is at the front desk greeting us, “Welcome back! I’ll grab your keys in a moment, just need you to sign a few things…Ah, yes, here we are. Since your cabin is lake front, we just ask that no pets are brought with you on your trips. If this becomes permanent residence though, you can, but will need to pay an additional resort fee. Please sign here, and here.”

“Um, I’m sorry. We don’t have any pets…but, wait, did you sayresident? You must be mistaken, we are just renting for the weekend.”Well, the jig is up.

“Happy Birthday, beautiful.” I pull her in for a chaste kiss.

“What?!” She turns back to the desk. “I’m sorry, weowna cabin? Did I hear that right?” She then mutters to herself, “There better be only one bed.” Tamra stifles a laugh. She’s the same woman from our first trip, and it has become a running joke between these two.

Emma finally let me in on it, a few months ago, so I can’t help but laugh, too. “No, baby, there’s multiple bedrooms, so we can come up as a family or by ourselves.”

She is still stunned and muttering to herself, so I quickly sign the paperwork and get the keys. Once we reach the cabin, I set down the bags before opening the door. After I unlock it, I lift her up by her knees and back, bridal-style, and cross the threshold.

“Dylan, put me down, you’re being ridiculous!”

“What? I've always wanted to do that! We missed the opportunity on our wedding night because I couldn’t keep my hands to myself. When we bought our house, we had to wrangle all the kids. Now, I can cross it off my bucket list.”

“And what else is on this mysterious bucket list?”

As I set her legs down, I keep her body pressed against mine. “Well, my beautiful wife”—I kiss below her ear and whisper—“let me show you.”

The cabin has four bedrooms, so I converted one of them into a library for Emma and the kids. Holding her hand, I stop in front of the room. “Ok, close your eyes.” I guide her into the room, and over to the ladder. I set her hand on it. “Open them.”

Her eyes are everywhere in disbelief. “It’s…Dylan this is too much. Alibrary?” Her fingers brush the book spines on one of the shelves before turning around to wrap her arms around me.

“Do you have déjà vu?” A blush creeps up her cheek. “Where I…” I back her against a shelf.

“...wanted you so fucking badly…” I prop myself against it with my other hand, then move my face to right beside her ear.

“...I would have buried myself deep inside you, taking what’s mine, right there in that bookstore.”

There is a hitch in her breath before she replies softly, “I remember.” She bites her bottom lip in anticipation.

I wrap my hand around the front of her beautiful neck, and gently pull her to me until her lips are on mine. She moans into my mouth, causing my dick to press against my jeans. “E, be my good little wife and hold onto the ladder. I’m about to cross one more thing off my list.”
