He seemed mortified as he confessed this, even shifting on his feet in a way that seemed bashful. I could swear the tips of his pointed ears were even flushed.

“You don’t…know?” I asked, bewildered by the entire situation, half-wondering if I was dreaming. “How did you even get in here?” Iknewwe had locked that door after Lyv left.

“I have a key,” he said simply. Albert released a sound of disbelief, pumping up his chest like he was ready for round two. The alien patted him on the head…I choked back a reluctant chuckle.

“Do you have a key to every room?” Albert asked on a grumble, smoothing his hair in place and straightening as tall as he could. Esther was now completely preoccupied with the man’s bottom. She was dick drunk before she even got the dick.

I closed my eyes, shaking my head. Unless she got the dick while I was sleeping which was entirely possible andsolike her.

“I am the captain of this ship, soyes,” the alien said, puffing up his own chest. Unlike Albert, he looked fucking hot with all those muscles exposed. Mouth gaping open at my own absurdity, I looked up and away, feeling the skin of my cheeks burning. He was analien, I reminded myself.

“Oooh,” Esther finally chimed in. “Can you help us get home?”

The alien, er,Captain, glanced at me warily, as if I had asked the question. Lyv was watching him very closely. “I am usure wherehomeis, but I do know your kind is far, far from it. How you came to be here is a mystery considering the primitive vessel you crashed in, but I’m sure for the right price…”

Albert scoffed, cutting him off. “I knew these guys were bad news.”

The captain scowled. “We deal in Loyobv jewels. There will be a trader at our next port. You could perhaps bribe them for passage on board their ship. Whether they have the capacity to return you to your home, however, is unknown to me. They are the only species in this sector that regularly travels outside of it.”

Esther and I exchanged hopeful looks. This only caused the captain to deepen his scowl. Lyv outright glared at the captain…interesting.“But we won’t arrive in Jufv for another few moons.”

Lyv opened his mouth, confusion clouding his features, but the captain held up his hand, pointing at the door. “We will leave you now.”

“That’s it?” I asked, shocked that he wouldn’t bother explaining how he came to be perched on my bed—while I slept.

I didn’t even know his damn name! The stalker! “What’s your name?” I suddenly demanded. “Why were you watching me like a creep?”

Lyv choked on an odd sound, turning his back on the room.

The captain’s mouth opened, then closed. I crossed my arms over my chest, tapping my foot on the floor impatiently. He glanced down, swallowing thickly and I suddenly realized I had my unbound breasts propped up on my forearms. Flushing hotly, I dropped them, startling him.

“This is better thanDays of our Lives,” Esther whispered in the silence.

The captain spun on his heel and fled the room.

Lyv’s face was so flushed it was a bright purple color. “Arys,” he blurted suddenly, his voice tight with disbelief. “His name is Arys.” And then he also fled.

I gaped at the closing door, suddenly hot all over. “What the hell was that?”

Albert snorted before trudging over to the bed on the far side of the room.

“I think, my dear, you make the captain nervous.” Esther winked at me before rushing over to climb in beside Albert.

“I make him nervous, so he snuck in our room to watch me sleep?” I asked, refusing to acknowledge the proof of canoodling currently fondling each other in the bed bedside mine.

Esther giggled but poked her head above the covers. “No, he seemed genuinely confused as to why he was doing that. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sleepwalks, but regardless, he very clearly was staring at your perky breasts, my dear. So perhaps you should get to shaking those melons so he’ll bribe that trader fellow for us.”

“I will not!”

“Suit yourself,” she sang, dipping back beneath the covers. “But it wasn’t my nipples that were pointed at him.”

Chapter9

ARYS

“You are feeling the pull,” Lyv called, racing after me. I scoffed, refusing to acknowledge his words. I feltnothing. “Why else would she call to you at your most vulnerable.”

“I drank too much,” I muttered, willing to throw out every last bottle of spirit in my cabin, sothatwouldn’t happen again. I normally slept as deeply as the deceased. How I came to be at her bedside with little to no recollection was a mystery that confounded me. I could not allow it to happen again.
