As they walked inside, Emily found a seat nearby and kinda just ‘hung out,’ listening to everyone around her.

“… I got an email from Ryan, and you aren’t going to believe this Glory,” Sophie began, smiling happily as she burped the baby on her shoulder. “He needs you to fix up one of the pilots that’s going to be flying into town with Houdini.”

“Where do they get these call signs?” Harley smiled.

“I know, right?”

“Yeah, apparently Ghost and Houdini are flying into town for a week for you to exert your matchmaking skills…”

“So, I need to find two single women?”

“Just one…” Sophie corrected. “Houdini isn’t looking.”

“Just Ghost?”

“Yes.”

Glory beamed brightly, looking overly enthusiastic at the prospect, making Emily chuckle slightly. It was funny to think of the ways that people met and came together. She’d met John because Jana had bailed on him, pursuing Vapor – which immediately caused her to glance at her sister.

“How’s Jana and Vapor doing?”

Silence fell in the room as Karen smiled softly.

“Did I say something wrong?”

“No, but those two think they are keeping this massive secret romance going. What they don’t realize is that we already know – all of us. We’ve known for months. That’s one thing you’ll find, is that word spreads really fast in the group. They are eloping next month.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, Jace told me, and we are flying to Iceland at Vapor’s request.”

“You’re kidding me…”

“Okay – back to our little Ghostie’s love affair,” Glory said enthusiastically, causing her husband to chuckle easily as he leaned over to kiss her. “Does anyone know of a single girl that would be a good fit for one of our boys?”

“My neighbor,” Karen said easily, raising a hand. “She’s a sweet woman, works at a bakery in Tyler…”

“Our guys can eat, that’s for sure…” Dixie interjected, laughing.

“I think she could really use a decent person in her life, and got out of an extremely bad relationship or marriage last year.”

“Oh no…”

“Yep. Police called to the house and everything…” Karen said quietly, taking a deep breath. “She’s such a sweetheart, so nice, that I think she could really use a dose of happiness, or a chance at finding something special.”

“Hang on a sec…” Emily began, causing every set of eyes to land on her. “But if this woman has gone through that much, do you think she wants to put herself out there again? We could be doing more harm than good.”

“It would be her choice,” Glory interjected easily. “I mean, would you pass up a chance at meeting X-Ray because you were scared or worried?”

Emily hesitated, thinking back to their first couple of dances at the reception – and where they were now.

“I just feel like she should have a say instead of us deciding, because things could go very badly…”

“Or simply wonderful,” Melody replied, looking up at her husband, who stood close by. “Sometimes you go through the worst in order to discover the best there is…”

“I love you,” Firefly said tenderly, leaning down to kiss her.

“Divorce is always tough but…”
