I know what you mean about photographs…

I keep staring at them and while that particular photo was wonderful, I think my favorite is the one where my head is tucked under your chin, and you are holding me. There’s something in your eyes that speaks to me.

I miss you too, John… and it was really wonderful getting to meet you. Maybe we can have dinner again in the future someday. I would really like that, and treasured receiving your email this morning.

Take care of yourself, get some rest, and be safe, my friend.

Yours truly,

Emily

Hours later, working late into the evening, Emily heard a chime on her computer telling her she had another email. Clicking on it, she saw that Jana had forwarded some photos from the wedding that she’d taken… and there, among them, was a photograph of her and John.

There was actually two of them that stood out glaringly.

One of the photographs was them dancing… and he didn’t look too happy to be there in that moment, thinking back to the way he had frowned intently at the very beginning.

The second photo was much better.

The two of them had been walking out of the reception for Emily to freshen up before leaving to catch dinner. John was there, holding her hand, and gazing at her… as she was looking up at him, smiling.

She had been so stunned that he’d asked her to dinner – and was still amazed that he showed any interest at all.

A tiny part of her was taken aback that he’d been so forward in kissing her the next morning after their date – but if he hadn’t? She wouldn’t have ever believed that something was there. You couldn’t fake the intensity with what he showed… and oh goodness, she loved those stolen moments.

Maybe that old adage that there was someone for everyone – was actually true? She hoped he was serious, because deep down, she was also keenly aware thatthiswas how you ended up with emotional damage.

Forwarding the email to John so he had the photographs too… she saw he’d responded back to her earlier email.

Clicking on it, she began to read.

My dearest Emily,

I am so relieved to hear that you like my bad pick-up lines and that you aren’t tired of my attempts to sway you to my side. I’ll keep at them, because I mean to win you over completely. Be prepared for the onslaught of cheesiness and corny wooing.

Soooo… you think I have a gorgeous smile, eh?

Roguish charm… that’s just lil’ ol’ me.

Incredible kisses…?

How can they be anything but incredible?

When you are near me, I feel a part of myself melting, wanting to be close, hold you, and feel this urge to claim those delicate lips… and the moment I get to taste them?

It’s game over for me.

I’m just really glad you don’t mind and that you like the way I kiss you. There will be a lot more of it in the future – I promise!

We are definitely having dinner again someday, and I plan on whisking you away to make sure you never forget me.

In fact, let’s talk about maybe another visit soon? I know Christmas is a little close and I doubt I can get a weekend away that fast, but maybe in January?

Are you free?
