“Love it… why?”

“There is a restaurant in the Forum shops that has some form of chocolate in every single thing… including the French fries. They are dusted with chocolate.”

“You are kidding me…”

“Nope.”

They smiled at each other openly, then he leaned forward to kiss her again tenderly, before pulling back again. Emily reached up to touch his cheek, treasuring the way he turned to kiss her palm.

“It’s not a far jump at all, my sweet Em…” he murmured against the skin of her hand, and looking at her with a tenderness that made her heart stagger wildly in her chest, realizing he was talking about falling in love.

“No, it’s not,” she replied openly, smiling at him.

They walkedthrough the Forum shops for several hours, looking at everything. She tried on some high heels for fun and would have bought them, except they were obscenely priced. It was fun to ‘dress up’ for a moment without the expensive commitment that came with the price tag.

John found a very nice button up shirt that he liked – and she was glad he bought it. It looked incredible on him, and she told him so. The pattern was clean, very unassuming, but on the inside of the neck, the sleeves, and the pocket, had a very bold color. The fit was perfect for his frame and made her itch to touch his beautiful shoulders… and when she admitted that?

He bought the shirt immediately.

She bought a neutral matte lipstick at Chanel. There was a slight shimmer to the mauve and tan shade that complemented her skin, making her feel pretty… especially when she caught John watching her in the mirror when she tried it on.

Seeing his tender smile of approval, it could have been neon colored lipstick, because just that look alone, would have made her buy it.

Mortified, John stopped in front of an expensive lingerie shop and looked at her pointedly – to which she burst out laughing and dragged him forward, away from there.

Spotting the restaurant at the exact moment that she smelled it… they made a beeline towards the storefront. They were seated by the window of the shop, near a massive fountain that had warm chocolate waterfalls landing in a vat behind glass.

Looking around, she found herself smiling in awe at all the massive displays, the laden plates around them, and then looked back at John to see him watching her.

“You are so beautiful when you smile…”

“You, sir, are a terrible flirt who needs glasses…”

“Nahhh…” he chuckled easily, picking up his menu and grinning. “I’m starving. Do you know what you are going to have?”

“An insane amount of chocolate?” she quipped, looking at her menu as the waiter walked up.

“Hello and welcome to Max Brenner’s. Have you been here before?”

“No,” they said in unison, before smiling at each other.

“Are we celebrating anything?”

Neither spoke or volunteered anything.

“Okay then,” the waiter said smiling. “Let me tell you about the specials we have today, and then you can take a peek at the menu… do you know what you want to drink? Remember, everything has some sort of chocolate in it – including the alcohol. If you haven’t had a chocolate martini before, it’s divine… and so is the margarita.”

“I’m going to have the chocolate martini,” Emily smiled, feeling adventurous – only to see John’s grin.

“Then I’ll have the margarita,” he replied easily.

“Can I talk you into the spiced waffle fries as an appetizer?”

“Waffle fries… with chocolate?”

“It’s divine.”
