“I promised I’d take care of you forever,” I clarified.
“Right.” She nodded.
Jax gave Quinn the ring that would be mine. And she repeated everything he said, word for word.
“So, no forever for me?” I pouted.
“You know what this is, Mr. Myles,” she whispered.
I smiled at her and squeezed her hand. “I do, Mrs. Myles.”
Jax huffed, “You’re getting ahead of yourselves. Anyway, by the power vested in me by the great state of Washington andwww.getordainednow.com, I now pronounce you Mr. & Mrs. Weston Myles.”
“dashMiller,” finished Muriel.
“Myles-Miller,” Jax corrected, “You may now kiss the—”
“Finally!” I interjected. I pulled Quinn close, and we kissed tenderly while Muriel snapped more photos and Jax left his fake stage.
When we finally released each other, Quinn looked down at her rings and shook her head.
“Wow,” she said, “it’s official.”
“Let the games begin,” I told her, nuzzling her neck.
“Okay, one more for the fake scrapbook,” said Muriel lining us up in front of the water feature. “Show me the rings!”
I held up Quinn’s stacked hand to the camera and smiled.
“Oh wow,” exclaimed Muriel.
“What is it, mama?” Quinn asked her.
‘It’s just,” Muriel held up the phone to show us the picture. “You both look genuinely happy.”
“Are you crying, mama?” Quinn teased.
“No, it’s just the damn allergies out here. Let’s get back inside,” she insisted.
But I stared at the image on her phone and thought wedidlook genuinely happy.
CHAPTERTHIRTEEN
QUINN
I lookedup at the giant building that was Globelink Securities—my old stomping grounds. Weston paused before going inside and gazed back at me.
“You sure you’re okay?” he asked for the fifth time.
‘I’m okay,” I told him.
“All right, let’s sell it,” he said as he opened the door for me to go inside.
We took the elevators up to the 25th floor, where Dominic Myles had his office.
My stomach instantly sank as the doors opened, and we saw Lucy’s overly-excited face.
“Oh, come here, sis,” she said, squeezing me into a bear hug. “It’s about time you found yourself a respectable woman, brother,” she teased Weston.
