Had it really been that long?

I couldn’t believe it. But he was right. I needed to go home. Wash my hair. Feel human again.

“Okay, baby.”

He stopped and held my shoulders, taking a step back to look me in the face.

“Did you just call me…”

“Yes, I’m tired. You caught me in a vulnerable state.” I groaned. “Don’t read into it.”

“Mmmhmm, if you ask me, I think I’m breaking through that tough Miller exterior.” He played, running his fingertips over my jawline.

“Well, nobody asked you, so…”

He gave me a sexy side smirk and I rolled my eyes.

“Let’s go home,” I said, adjusting my purse on my shoulder.

“Whatever you say…baby.”

“Oh my god, Weston, you don’t let anything go, do you?”

He slid his hand into mine and spun his keys in the other like a joy-filled teenager.

Back at the penthouse, the elevator dinged, and Lucy and her two other bridesmaids jumped out and surprised me.

“Get ready, we’re going out!” Lucy gushed.

I glared at Weston who played the bashful accomplice.

“You knew about this?” I asked him.

He put his hands up, “Your best friend wants to take you out, who am I to stop her?”

“But Lu, I’m a mess. I haven’t washed my hair in…never mind, I won’t say how long.”

“Well, lucky for you, I’ve got you covered.” She clapped her hands, and a glam squad came around the corner with blow dryers, makeup brushes, and dress options in hand, ready to tackle the project that was me.

“Oh, good lord,” I whispered to myself. “Where are we going? The Oscars?”

Lucy laughed as the other two bridesmaids jumped into seats at the table.

“We’re going to see my favorite comedian live, and you, my dear sister-in-law, will laugh your ass off. Consider this my bachelorette party.” She threw her arms in the air and pumped them up and down, following the other two to the table.

I needed a shower. Bad.

“Okay fine, but only because it’s for you.”

“You’re going to love this comedian. He’s hilarious. And you need a good release,” she stated, taking a sip from her sparkling water.

“Well, then, I’ll be right back,” I muttered, making my way to the owner’s suite.

Weston was coming out of the closet and shrugging on a jacket.

“Are you coming too?” I asked him.

“As much as I’d love to sit next to you and hear that beautiful laugh of yours, no. Lucy has her thing, and Dray’s having his.”
