“You’re starting shit you can’t finish, Giovanni.”

“Oh. I already did though. Do you remember an agreement your father had with mine?” My tongue rolls against the side of my cheek.

Kirill’s eyes widen, just as my father’s did.

I laugh because they have the exact same fate.

“Hmm. Can’t seem to figure it out?”

I look over toward Rolando. He doesn’t seem to care about what is happening.

“You got the Romanos involved in this shit so your ass would be covered. You thought that if you married into my family somehow, I wouldn’t kill you.”

“That’s not what happened.”

“Then what happened?” Rolando cuts in, finally showing interest.

Kirill looks flustered as fuck. Like he was caught stealing and is now trying to find a valid excuse for his actions.

I wasn’t sure if he was directly involved, but now I know for sure.

“Look, I just did what I was told,” he says, throwing his hands up in frustration.

“You’re old enough to have accepted my father’s demands. Was it you who took action, or was it your people?

“What?”

“Did you kill my fucking mother?”

“Fuck. Okay, yes I—”

I take my gun out and walk up to him. He is kicking his legs, trying to back away from me, but he is failing miserably because of the strength of Carlo and Max.

“Do it,” Max says.

“Blood for blood,” I say. The last words he will ever hear.

Kirill’s hands fly into the air. “Wait!Wait. I know something that could be useful to you.”

My finger curls around the trigger easily, drawn to it like a moth to a flame. “Enlighten me.”

“Your father lied.” His words come out as pants.

“I know that already.”

He looks around the room, probably trying to find another excuse. “No. You don’t know what I know.”

“Well, Kirill, you’re not doing a great job at keeping me interested.”

“It’s your sister!”

I turn toward Max as his eyes darken.

“What about her?” he asks as if Kirill threatened Nina.

“Not yours.”

My head falls back a little as I try to understand him.
