“I’ll hold you to that.” Fleur took the keys as Elena stood up. “And if you ever need anywhere to hide from everything, and you know what I’m talking about, just let me know. You can hide with me any time you want.”
Elena smiled. “That does make me feel glad that you’re my sister.”
“You’d do the same for me.” Fleur gave her a rueful look as she picked up her coffee. “And I have a feeling you’re going to need someone to take refuge with at some point in the near future.”
Elena didn’t know what to say to that.

JASON
Jason couldn’t wait to see Elena. He was still shaking over the meeting with Kenneth Barron and his brother, along with a couple of their friends. Even with Jason’s lawyer mediating the whole thing, it had been tumultuous.
At least they would be doing as Jason laid out for them. Kenneth was leading the agreement, although he did have to tell his brother to shut up many times. The nineteen-year-old didn’t want to do anything, saying that there was no proof and he had no intention of paying. However, Kenneth had set him straight, and everyone had reluctantly signed the contract. They all knew the consequences if they didn’t pay up. None of them wanted to get arrested, and the fines for that would be even higher than what Jason was asking for.
It wasn’t quite the way he expected things to go, but it was the best he could ask for. And Jason could feel the pent-up frustration from finding out one of his own players had been a part of it. The part of him that was angry wanted to kick Kenneth off the team and blacklist him everywhere else, but he also saw that this wouldn’t go well for him, either. He had to be rational and give the kid the opportunity to redeem himself. Kenneth was aware that he only had one chance before his life went up in smoke.
Jason didn’t like this at all. He wished he could get away and clear his head.
He needed Elena. She was good at calming him down.
It felt like forever before he heard a knock at the door. Jason practically ran over to the door and opened it to find Elena outside. Her expression tensed when she saw the look on his face.
“What’s happened?” she asked.
“I’ll explain later.” Jason looked past her into the lobby. “Where’s Melinda?”
“She was on her way out to lunch as I was coming in.”
Thank God for that. Jason didn’t want to be disturbed.
Grabbing Elena’s hand, he dragged her into his office and locked the door. He pressed her up against it, kissing her as she started to speak. Her protests immediately turned into a sigh, and Elena melted into his arms. She was so pliant when she was around him, and holding her seemed to make the frustrations and pain melt away.
He was going to need more than a kiss to get rid of the tension in his body right now.
“What happened?” Elena broke the kiss and stared at him with a frown. “What’s wrong?”
“Later.”
Jason didn’t want to talk just yet. He needed her. Right now.
Grinding his erection against her hips, causing Elena to whimper, he fumbled with her jeans. They were far too tight for him to get off with just one hand, and he growled. Elena put a hand over his.
“Sit down. I’ll deal with this.”
She didn’t even question what they were doing. After all, anyone could be on the other side of the door listening in. This was by far the most daring thing they had done.
Jason didn’t want to think about that. He just wanted Elena.
Stumbling to the couch, he undid his pants and shoved them to his knees with his boxers. Then he sat down and stroked his cock as Elena took off her jeans, her panties coming off as well as her sneakers. She padded over to him in her socked feet.
“I take it I can’t persuade you to get completely naked, then,” she said as she dropped her clothes at their feet.
