He shrugged and asked what I also wondered, “What’s up, Sal?”

“I’m leaving Colorado…” Collin and I exchanged a glance. “And moving to Virginia. I decided that I hated my job, missed my best friend, and my brother. But before you say anything, I’m moving in with Cami.”

“You could have moved in here, Sal. There’s enough room,” Collin said, echoing the same thought in my head.

“And listen to you two all day? Pass.” She laughed. “I love you both and couldn’t be happier that you’re together, but I think Cami’s is the better place for me. I hope you understand.”

“I’m just glad you’re here,” I said, taking her hand in mine. “We were about to play Scrabble. Your brother is determined to beat me.”

“I will beat you. I can feel it in my bones. Plus, I’ve been studying.”

The other day I caught him reading my biochem textbook. Then he started asking me questions. I loved that he showed interest in my education, but there were times I didn’t want to think about school.

“Hmm… Scrabble. As tempting of an invitation as that is, I’m going to have to decline.” She stood and adjusted her cross-body purse. “Cami and I are going to an event that Sophie planned. Apparently there are going to be a lot of hot guys there.”

Collin groaned, I giggled, and Sally winked. “I’ll call you tomorrow, and we can plan a dinner or something. I’ll see myself out.”

She scurried toward the door, and when it closed behind her, Collin and I just shook our heads.

“My sister is something else.”

“But she’s the best.”

“Sure,” he teased, earning a slap to his arm. “Ready to lose?”

“Fine, if you feel like torturing yourself,” I teased back.

We sat at the kitchen table with the new board I’d given Collin for Christmas. Of course, I felt like a schmuck after he gave me the pretty bracelet I refused to take off.

“I’m going first,” he touted.

“Why of course… age before beauty.”

His glare had me laughing. Then he divvied up the tiles without mixing them up. Turning the board toward him, he studied the tiles in front of him. “Got it.” He placed five tiles down. “Marry, that’s ten points,” he said before spinning the board in my direction.

Staring at my tiles, I built off theRto formRACED. “That’s eight points.” I spun it back to him. And without hesitation, he placed one tile down and turned the board.

“Me?” Then I blinked a couple of times before my vision began to blur with tears.

“Marry me, Charlie.” He produced a beautiful ring with a light-pink stone. “It’s a pink diamond. Your favorite color. I know you’re young and still in school, but I don’t want another day to pass without you knowing that I love you more than anything. I never thought I would find someone who made me feel this way. But you do, Charlie. You own my heart.”

“I’ve loved you for most of my life. Even before I knew what love was. Yes, Collin, I will marry you.”

He glanced down at the board and smirked. “Looks like I won.”

Shaking my head, I watched him slide the ring onto my finger. “No, we both did.”

Meet Lucas and Harley in Charmed by the Player!

Chapter 1

Harley

Oh. My. God.

I scanned the instructions on the back of the box, making sure I followed them, which I had. “No, no, no. This can’t be happening,” I whined, scolding the mirror. Yet, no matter how many times I blinked, my reflection remained the same. Hair that rivaled the brightest orange flame rather than the pretty golden blonde I aimed for almost looked comical… except it wasn’t. If I was standing near a window, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone called the fire department to extinguish the raging blaze.
