“Monday. When I took her home.”

“So wait, all this damage to the restaurant, and you insist on taking her home, and then you sleep with her finally?” Cade’s stunned reaction summed it up perfectly.

“Yes. She invited me in. Then things kind of happened.”

“Then what’s the problem? I figured you’d be over the moon about it,” Cade said.

“I was. Then she said we shouldn’t do it again.”

“Ah. And then you tried to win her over and that backfired.” Jake nodded as he pieced things together.

“Pretty much.”

“Wait, what did you do to piss her off?” Ryker asked.

“I fucking paid contractors to start work on the restaurant early.”

“That pissed her off?” Ryker asked.

“Apparently she thinks she owes all of us something for helping out Monday, and I made it worse. I explained to her that the insurance would pay me back, but she’s upset over it.”

“She doesn’t owe us shit,” Cade said.

“That’s what I told her. We’re friends and she’s included in that. That’s just what friends do.” Evan shrugged. “Apparently, she’s never had anyone help her just to help. By the way, who cleaned up the glass?”

“The guards I hired did it. They said it was a hazard, so I told them to go for it,” Cade said.

“That pissed her off too,” Evan muttered.

“What the hell?” Cade stood. “Anyone need another?”

They all nodded and Cade headed to the kitchen.

“I can have Lauren talk to her?” Jake offered.

“I don’t know if that would help. They’re already talking anyway. Plus, if she finds out I told all of you what happened between us and then what she said, she’ll probably be even more mad at me.”

Jake nodded. “Okay.”

Cade returned and handed everyone a beer.

“So, what happened in the bedroom? Was it bad?” Luke asked.

Evan rolled his eyes but answered anyway. “No. It was good. She got hers twice. Only had one condom so we slept after, and then in the morning, she was up early and gone from the bed before I woke up.”

“Maybe it scared her. She admit to anything in bed?” Cade asked.

Evan thought it over. Nothing was out of the ordinary other than her liking it a little rough. “Not that I can think of.”

“Did you?” Luke asked.

“No. I was a little dominant, but she seemed into it.”

“Are you just accepting it?” Ryker asked, paying more attention than he normally did to anyone’s relationship conversation.

“Of course not. I told her I’d give her space to think about it.”

“So what happened yesterday then?” Jake pressed.
