“The only thing I would caution is how soon you use it. Technically, this is an ongoing investigation,” April said.
Evan had met April a few times, but those were few and far between. Overall most of the legal work for Blind Date when Evan came in had been done by his own lawyers and she’d only reviewed it with Kayla.
She was shorter than everyone here, just over 5 foot if he had to guess. She had long dark brown hair that hung to her waist and carried a bag with her that he was pretty sure would tip her over if it became off-balance.
“Understood on that front. I really mean the circumstances, not so much this part,” Catherine gestured to the room.
“I’ve had a lot of apology emails come through. Some people are still angry and want to be removed from the system, but I’m pretty sure things are going to be okay for the restaurant,” Kayla told them.
Evan dropped a kiss on her head as he stood, walking around the table to Cade. “Thanks for coming, man.”
“You know I wouldn’t miss it. I do have to get back to work, though.” Quickly, Cade left.
Evan arched an eyebrow at Catherine who shrugged. That wasn’t entirely out of character for him, but it seemed to come out of nowhere.
“I’m glad it’s mostly over now though,” Evan said.
“We’ve still got a bit to go before it’s done, but at least they have her locked up for now,” April said. “Catherine, can I talk to you?”
“Sure.” Catherine walked April out after she said her goodbyes.
“Thank you,” Kayla said.
Evan went to her and brought her in for a hug. “For what?” he asked.
“For being you.”
He leaned down and kissed her. “Thank you for being you, too.”
