“No, never. I always felt I had to protect her. She died too young.”

“She left you with two wonderful sons.”

“Yes, and now that I have you, I’ll never let you go. But I have to clear my name for the sake of my boys and my future wife. Will you fight at my side?”

“I will. Should we call a lawyer?”

“First thing tomorrow. Tonight, we’ll celebrate our trust in each other.” He stood and pulled her up.

She threw her arms around his neck and melted against him. “I’ll always be with you, Rick. At your side or in your arms. Always.”

He captured her mouth in a scorching kiss and scooped her up into his arms for a long night of lovemaking.

“Wait,” she whispered.

“Why?”

“We have a lot to toast. Bring the bottle of amaretto. No need for glasses.” She clucked her tongue.

He tilted his head, his glance questioning.

“You’ll see. Just trust me.”

On his way to her bedroom, he snatched the bottle of liqueur and continued to her bed. They undressed each other.

“Now, you lie down and follow my lead.” With a mischievous smile and passionate gaze, she poured the liqueur onto his chest and belly, crouched, and leaning over him, licked every inch of his muscled chest, slowly lowering her head, until he groaned and turned her under him, kissing her and thrusting into her core.

“I love you, babe. Now and forever.”

Chapter Nineteen

“Can you stay with the children today?” Rick asked, as they exited the shower.

“Sure. I’ll take them to my parents’ place. We’ll play on the beach or sunbathe on the terrace. Nanny Maria can come with us.”

“Won’t your parents be tired after last night’s party?”

Madison shook her head. “They had caterers handle the hard work. They’ll relax on the beach. Besides, I have to talk to them and do some damage control. If Joseph Powell was there, he must have spread false rumors.”

“So you plan to fight for me?”

“Absolutely.”

Wrapped in her pink bathrobe, she was adorable, her mouth set in a determined pout. He pressed her against him. “American Airlines will forever be my favorite airlines. I feel like sending them a thank you note for meeting you on their plane.”

She burst out laughing. “If you do that, they may fire me for flirting with a passenger. You’d better call your lawyer.”

“I’m meeting two of them today to explain the case. They’re quite expensive but worth every penny. Meanwhile, let’s go back to my house before the children awaken.”

Dressed, they strolled to her parents’ parking lot where he’d left his car the previous night and drove to his house for breakfast with the children.

“Would you like to spend the day at the beach?” Madison asked while savoring her French toasts.

“Yeah.” The boys shouted in chorus and finished eating in record time.

Their nanny prepared their beach bags and a cooler with sandwiches for lunch. Rick drove them to her parents’ buildingand dropped them off in front of the doors. “I’ll join you later.” He wasn’t sure how long his meeting with the lawyers would take.
