I flung open the shower stall curtain and stuck my head out. “What if it wasn’t me?”

“Just making sure.” His glasses fogged up, and he wiped at them with his fingers.

I closed the curtain and went back to scrubbing myself. “What are you doing in here?”

“Checking on you. Owen had a big grin on his face when he came back from the gym, so I know he probably said something to piss you off.”

“You are very right. But I’ll live. Now get out of here before someone sees you. Just because Melinda knows about us doesn’t mean I want anyone else finding out. Not to mention that Nancy witnessing the CTO walking in on women in the locker room probably counts as a hostile work environment.”

There was a muffled sound outside the shower. Then the curtain opened and Jude stepped in with me. His glasses were off, and he was totally nude.

“What if someone comes in here?” I hissed. “They’ll see your clothes.”

“Nobody has used these showers since we moved in. You’re the first. But just to be safe, I locked the door. Nobody is walking in on us.”

I sighed as he hugged me from behind, fingers sliding over my wet skin. I felt him stiffening against my ass, a thick rod that gave off just as much heat as the scalding water. He kissed my neck, and my sighs deepened.

“What happened to making me feel better tonight?” I breathed.

He put his lips close to my ear and replied, “I couldn’t wait that long. I ache for you.”

I pushed my ass back against him. His lips continued nuzzling at my neck, moving down to the place where it met my shoulders. His arms surrounded me, holding me safely, and his fingers slid lower until they were in the mound of my hair and then touching my already soaked pussy…

“I need you,” Jude breathed.

“Then take me,” I replied.

I moaned as Jude filled me from behind, and made me forget all about my problems at work.

Owen

I was certain about one thing: this girl wasn’t going to get the better of me.

Amber thought she was hot shit. A cocky coder who was used to taunting internet trolls from behind a keyboard. It felt good to remind her who was in charge around here.Especiallyafter her stunt with my LinkedIn profile.

Because the way she looked at me in the gym? She was definitely checking me out. Maybe I flexed my arms a little extra when I walked toward her, keeping my entire body tense. Making those musclespop, baby. And it definitely had an effect on her. Her admiring eyes didn’t lie. Calling her out on it felt even better than hijacking her Facebook profile, too.

Jude made fun of me for how much time I spent in the gym, and even went so far as to call me vain. But from his position, he didn’t understand. The Chief Technology Officer never had to get up in front of cameras or woo potential investors. He got to sit back and make decisions from the privacy of his office.

As the CEO, however, I was the face of the company. I had to stay fit, and keep my body strong. Charisma wasn’t an innate quality; it was strengthened by a man’s physical appearance. There was a reason the vast majority of Fortune 500 CEOs were above six feet tall. Physical confidence led tobusinessconfidence.

After the meeting in the gym, I ran into Amber twice more that afternoon. Each time, I gave her the biggest, warmest smile I could manage. Killing her with kindness. She reacted exactly as I hoped: by glaring back at me with frustration.

Good.

I did feel a little bad about yelling at her last night. But the stakes were high. The damage she could have caused me, and the company, were incalculable. What I did in return, putting a funny Photoshop on her Facebook profile and locking her out for a few days, was small potatoes in comparison.

We’re even now,I thought. We can focus on what really matters. The investors.

But deep down, I wasn’t sure if we really were even.

The next two days were relatively quiet. The new guys, Will Won and Will Crawley, seemed to know their shit. Whatever else I thought about Amber, she was a good judge of character. Excluding yours truly, of course.

She and Jude were working together a lot. Not surprising, given how much work was going into the expansion of our platform. The two of them seemed to mesh well, which was a relief. I loved Jude like a brother, but sometimes he could be picky about the people he worked with. Judging them based on the way they coded, or how they organized a computer’s file structure. Petty stuff like that.

I’m glad he convinced me to hire her.
