“Technically, August isn’t single,” Michael said. “I don’t know what he would call what he and Adriana have, though.”

“Ohh, Adriana. Definitely a hot girl name.”

“Hot anddumbgirl name,” August muttered. “Actually we broke up last week.”

Michael gave a start. “Really? Why didn’t you say something?”

“I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. It’snota big deal. We only dated a few weeks.” He glanced at me. “She only liked me for my money. She said so. You guys want some popcorn? I’m going to make some popcorn.”

August popped up and went to the kitchen. I finished the last of my wine and stared at the glass, wondering if I should stay for another. It was late, and I was still getting used to waking up early for my job rather than sleeping in. And I also needed my beauty sleep before my Thursday evening live show.

“I’m going to call it a night,” I said.

“Aww, you’re missing the second half of the movie,” Michael said.

“I’ve heard that’s the best half,” August said from the kitchen.

“You mean theworsthalf?” I asked.

He pointed at me. “Exactly! Now you’re getting it!”

“Rain check. I’m exhausted. And if I have any more wine, I won’t be able to drive.”

Michael got up and followed me to the door. August took my glass and rinsed it in the sink.

“Thanks for coming,” Michael said. “It’s good for all those donors to meet you, since they’re going to be seeing a lot more of your face.”

“Thanks for inviting me! It was fun. You have a wonderful place.” I grinned at August. “Just like Bruce Wayne.”

“That is, beyond a doubt, the coolest thing anyone has ever said to me.” He snatched Michael’s phone off the counter and held it out. “Can you repeat that into the microphone? I want to make it my ringtone at work.”

Michael retrieved my coat and helped me into it. His hands lingered on my back, and his scent was thick and heady in my nostrils. “See you at work tomorrow.”

“See ya.”

We stood there for a moment, and the goodbye felt inadequate. So I went in for a hug. Michael did too. I leaned my head in to the left side, intending to rest it on his shoulder, but he moved in the same direction.

Our faces came together, and we kissed.

It might have started off as a total accident, but the kiss quickly evolved into something more deliberate. His arms pulled me against his chest and I melted against his lips, tasting the same wine on them that I had been drinking. Electricity pinged from his body to mine, then back again. In his embrace, I felt lighter than air.

We both realized what was happening at the same time, and pulled away. He kept his arms around me, then let go awkwardly. He brushed back his sandy-blond hair and searched my face for a reaction, but I was just as shocked as him.

“That…” he said. “I…”

“Fuck, I didn’t know I was throwingthatkind of party,” August said as he joined us.

He took me into his arms like the Dark Knight himself and crushed his mouth against mine. Whereas Michael had held me tenderly, August’s grip was more hungry. Like he had been thinking about holding me in his arms all night and was eager for the chance. I parted my lips and his tongue pushed inside, conquering and claiming. As he pushed me up against the door, a moan bubbled up from my throat. He made a deep, satisfied noise too as our tongues churned together.

It was different than the kiss with Michael, but every bit as amazing. Which was surprising since I hadn’t really thought of August that way, compared with his friend.

When the kiss ended, both men stared at me—Michael with surprise, August with intrigue. My body was alive in a way that I had never felt before, screaming for more, demanding that I take these two unexpected kisses to the next logical step.

That kind of party, August had said. What did he mean? What was he suggesting?

Just as quickly as my passion had blossomed in me, it disappeared and was replaced by panic. These were my coworkers. August was the CFO! I couldn’t fuck up my job. That was the most important thing in my life, my exit strategy after I eventually quit OnlyFans.

“I need to go,” I said, and rushed out the door before I could make a mistake.
