Page 66 of Sins that Define Us

I just shake my head and lay my hand over his. My ring clinks against his—a new band matching the one all of us now have on our fingers. We stood under the moon by the fountain where Kane and I once exchanged our quiet forevers, and with Alice there, we closed the circle.

“I love you,” I murmur softly to him, but it’s meant for everyone.

Kane hums quietly against my ear. “I love you. I think she looks like a Daisy.”

“A Jasmine,” James says. “Beautiful, small, and strong. And nothing will ever touch her.”

“I love it,” Alice says, her words punctuated with a yawn.

I know we have sleepless nights and a lifetime of worry ahead of us, but for this one single, perfect moment, time stops. Nothing bad exists. We are not the beasts we carry inside. Instead, we’re just five people who finally understand what it means to love.

Maybe a little madly.

Definitely too deeply.

But it’s enough.
