Chapter 14

Deanna

Zoe and I had a wonderfultime hitting the stores while Yiorgos’ men kept their distance as we shopped. Never has anyone I’ve dated been this generous to me or my family. Yiorgos is in a league of his own.

When we made it back to the condos, we dropped off the stuff we picked out for momma and daddy. Before Zoe left to take her bags to the condo she’s staying in, I gave her the code to get into my condo, then told her to meet me there in thirty minutes. I wanted to take a quick shower, then put on more comfortable clothes.

Once inside I took my items to the master bedroom. When I was finished with my shower and getting dressed in a pair of yoga pants and a tank top, I went into the living room to find Zoe sitting on the couch, pouring up two glasses of wine.

Peering up at me, she smiles. “Come have a glass of wine with me. I know you could use one.”

Going over to the couch, I take the wine glass she offers, then take a seat. Zoe and I clink our glasses together before taking a sip. Zoe lowers her glass, asking, “So, you and Yiorgos? I like it.”

I looked up at the ceiling, then back at her with a huge smile. “I do too. I know things are moving fast as far as our relationship goes but it’s like we were destined to meet at Mythos that night. I don’t know, it’s hard to put in words how I feel about him, but I can say, I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us.”

Zoe peers at me before wildly laughing. “Oh, my God. Deanna Lowe is in love!”

Thank goodness my brown skin does its job to hide my blushing cheeks. “Yes, I am in love with Yiorgos,” I beam with happiness.

Zoe sits back on the couch, grinning. “I’m so happy for you, Dee. I’m happy you found someone like Yiorgos. He is doing all the things a man should do for his woman and the most important one is putting her safety first. Yeah, we had his men following us around earlier, but he did that for our protection. If not for that, we would have been trapped in these condos. So, I for one can’t knock my brother-in-law.” She takes another sip of her wine.

“Your brother-in-law?” I questioned with a grin.

“Hell, yes, my brother-in-law. The man who has had your back since finding out the shit Hollis started with you. Sis, I’m not an expert when it comes to relationships, but I do know that man will knock out anyone he feels is a threat towards you. You might not have been looking for Yiorgos, but he came into your life when you needed him. We can handle our own but at the end of the day, it feels so much better to have a man that isn’t scared to stand up for the woman he loves, and Yiorgos clearly loves you. You, better snatch his ass up quick before he tries to replace you with some other chick.”

I swat her arm, stating, “First of all, I don’t have to worry about Yiorgos replacing me with anyone. We already had a connection before we became physical.” I quickly cover my mouth. Shit.

She slaps my thigh before she jumps up, putting her hand on her hips. “Wait a minute, wait a damn minute. So, you’ve done the do with the hot Greek? Details, details. I want all the juicy details and don’t hold nothing back.”

Zoe and I are close but this is the first time I didn’t want to disclose the intimate details about my relationship with Yiorgos.

“Zoe,” I giggle, rolling my eyes.

She sucks her teeth before folding her arms across her chest. “Fine, but at least tell me if it was good.”

Nothing could stop the Cheshire cat smile that took over my face.

“Oh, shit. It was that good, huh?” Zoe asks, sliding back down on the couch.

I nod.

She a hefty swig from her glass. “Well, all I can say is I hope it runs in the family.”

Laughing I pick up one of the accent pillows and toss it at her. My little sister is a nut. I hope she and Basil have the same connection Yiorgos and I have. If not, then I know she will eventually find her Mr. Right.

Zoe and I spent the next two hours talking, laughing, and opening another bottle of wine. When hunger finally hit us, we went into the kitchen to find something to eat. I don’t know how long Yiorgos thought we would be here but there was enough food to last for weeks. Wanting something simple, we decided to make chicken Caesar salads with garlic bread.
