“It is,” Domencio replies. “It seems Carmine has been disloyal to my organization for some time now. So, instead of my men disposing of those two bodies,” he points to Santana and Cameron. “They will have three.”

Unfazed by his words because I couldn’t care less, I implore, “Can we go and get some lunch? I’m starving?”

Domencio shakes his head from side to side as he lets out a loud laugh. “Of course. Batista tell the men to wrap these up and have them sent to my house.”

After Batista gave the men their instructions, we got into his SUV and left.

Chapter 11

Domencio

Amonth has passedsince the demise of Santana and Cameron. At the first Sunday dinner as a family at Ruby’s Sydney told Mr. Morgan about what happened with Santana. He not only thanked us, but Mr. Morgan gave his gratitude for giving Sydney and Booker the opportunity to take down one of their enemies.

He also expressed that he had been in contact with my daddy and was aware of the shit with Smitty’s family. I assured him Sydney and I had talked it over on how to handle the situation if Smitty’s people were to come our way. I honestly thought things would go differently because I was the one responsible for putting Sydney in that type of situation, but Mr. Morgan proved me wrong.

It took a little bit of time, but Batista and Booker were able to get over what rivalry they had. They started to hang out together without Sydney or me. They must’ve had more in common than we thought.

Sydney and I began to compare properties we were both interested in and as funny as it may sound, if we had sights on the same one, we would play rock, scissor, paper to decide who would lay claim to it.

Yes, I purposely lost a few times after seeing the determination in her eyes. What man wouldn’t do that for his woman? And yes, I can honestly say that in the whole time we have been spending together we have yet to consummate our relationship. Not that I don’t want to, but because I want Sydney to know that I am not here just to jump her bones, but I want to build with her. We’ll know when the time is right. I hope it will be soon because I was getting tired of taking cold showers.

Tonight, Sydney is meeting me at my house for dinner. Now that I know what she likes, I called in an order to Cajun Bistro.

Once I had the food, plates, cutlery, wine glasses, and wine bucket on the large coffee table in the living room with candles burning around the room, Sydney was walking in.

“It smells good in here,” she said, hanging her purse on the coat rack. “See, this is the benefit of owning your own restaurant.”

“It is,” I agreed, welcoming her with a powerful kiss that left the both of us wanting more, but I refrained. We had all night for that. At this moment, I want to hear how her day went.

Looking at the large pillows surrounding the table, Sydney said, “Domencio, I think you have your dining etiquette mixed up, I’m not sitting on the floor,” she laughed.

Chuckling, I returned, “No, I don’t. I did this because I thought it would be more intimate for us. Don’t you think?”

“Well since you put it that way,” she replied.

“For this one night, I want it to be just you and me enjoying one another’s company. Can we have that?” I plead, sitting at the table.
