Issac chuckles, his locs sway as he moves.

"He just got married. Twice over. I don't think we've got anything to worry about," Issac rumbles, still grinning.

"I need to clear the air with Baby," I tell him.

"You're both so damn frustrating,” Issac grumbles.

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I nod.

"I want her to feel safe with me," I tell Issac. "I think the babymoon was a step in the right direction."

"Your bullshit flirting hasn't helped anything, Dexter," he says, quirking an eyebrow at me.

"Fuck," I groan, tipping my head back to the ceiling.

He's probably right. Baby has never felt good enough. Alphas aren't anything special, hell we outnumber omegas like five or ten to one. I don't know why Baby won't see the truth of it. She's just as worthy as Kitten or any omega.

Hearing how Issac's dad left his mom when he found his omega, probably didn't help anything.

Fuck… the same thing happened to my mom. It's why she couldn't stand to look at me. I looked too much like my dad. She loved him, and he broke her.

By the time I was old enough to remember, she didn't have much heart left. My mom's a cunt. I don't use that word lightly. She's a raging bitch who only cares about herself.

Growing up, she was the only parent I had. I got the idea that maybe she wasn't the best example of parenting, but I still loved her and I wanted her to love me, too.

I'd never do to Baby what my dad did to my mom. It destroyed her, and in turn destroyed me, too.

"I'm gonna fix it," I say to Issac.

"Good, do it."

Rook and Lachlan saunter over.

"No," I say when they get close. "No more fucking pep-talks. I got the damn picture."

"God, Lachlan, did you and Ryder scar him for life?" Rook snorts.

"No, we gave him a killer motivational speech. Every damn one of you guys can suck my dick," Lachlan grumbles. Shaking his head, he laughs. "No, actually, we're about to do you a favor. Go warm your voice up with Rook. I'm going to play and you two are going to serenade the fuck out of the girls."

"What?" Issac chuckles.

"Yeah, this is my repayment of the debt I owe you for looking out for Blondie when she wasn't doing so hot," Lachlan says, tossing himself at me. He hugs the hell out of me with zero shame.

"Thanks, dude?" I ask, patting his back and wondering what the fuck is happening right now.

Lachlan York and I have crossed paths through the years in the industry. We didn't know each other well, but I saw the kind of guy he was before Bryan died. I'm also not a fucking hypocrite. So I warned his ass he better not fuck up and took a step back to let that shit play out.

Lachlan was never a straight-up dick, but it also didn't seem like we were ever going to be pals.

"Listen, the bond is very clear," Rook says, scratching at his tattoo-covered neck. His ink goes up even higher than mine, actually peeking over on his lower jaw. "Lyric thinks of you guys like family. Maybe more like pack—"

"That doesn't mean it's all one giant free-for-all of fucking," Lachlan says, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Still bitter about that, man?" Issac asks, chuckling. "You literally were not in the picture. Would you rather we had left her hurting?"

"Even just the alpha pheromones were enough to mostly soothe the pain during the mini-heats we rode out with her and Saint," I add, because Lachlan is looking a little pouty.

"They're right," Rook says. "Ryder was clear that he was the one who did the persuading."
