Chapter 1

You could travel the world and not find a safer place than Cape Daddy. Nestled on the coast but surrounded by the greenest, lushest woodland imaginable, Cape Daddy was a town that welcomed anyone and everyone with open arms and an open heart too.

For many years, the good people of Cape Daddy had worked together to create the kind of safe haven and positive environment where all kinds of people could thrive.

Snobbiness and bigotry was rare in Cape Daddy, and the town’s spirit of goodwill ensured that barely a week went by without a local celebration of fun activity. But it wasn’t all fun and games in Cape Daddy. Its inhabitants still had to work to pay their way. And that was precisely what Kane was doing - well, kind of…

The perfect tree-lined streets and smart houses passed by in a blur. The evening sun was still warm and Kane could hearthe birds chirping and singing away as he flew by without a care in the world.

‘Wheeeeee!’ Kane shouted at the top of his lungs. ‘Pizza! Pizza! Who wants hot pizza?’

Cape Daddy was full of pretty little suburban streets and suburban quaintness. Some even said that if you looked quaint up in the Webster’s English dictionary you would find nothing but a map of Cape Daddy. It was just that kind of place. And Kane loved it – especially the extra-steep hills that were perfect for building up speed on.

Kane was going so fast down the hill that he didn’t need to peddle. It was a freewheeling moment for a freewheeling kinda twenty-one-year-old. With his pizza delivery cart securely fixed onto the back of his vintage-style peddle bike, Kane felt as safe as safe could feel. So far, so Cape Daddy.

The fact that the pizza was due at Mr. and Mrs. Zooter’s place over on Cherry Lane over ten minutes ago didn’t even cross Kane’s mind for more than a split second.

Hmmm… am I running a little late?

Pizza is always nicer when it’s a bit colder anyway.

And even if it’s not… that’s what ovens are for!

Kane was a pizza delivery boy by evening, and an aspiring author by day. Although this was something he had been saying for what felt like an eternity at this point. To say that progress was slow would be an understatement!

Despite having a ton of good ideas for his YA fantasy series, Kane was struggling to actually get all that many words on thepage. It wasn’t for want of trying, but he just couldn’t seem to put together a consistent run of days where he was able to put pen to paper.

Or fingers onto keyboard.

Or… well, you get the picture!

Kane had cobalt blue eyes and blond hair that had been with him since the very first day he was born. Kane had often thought of trying out a different look, maybe going darker. But Kane never did. It just wasn’t his nature to take a chance like that. As much as Kane enjoyed having fun and playing jokes, he left the creative side of his personality mostly in his fiction.

Kane’s ruby-red lips, slender waist, and peachy butt were part of the reason that he had plenty of admirers across Cape Daddy. But despite the efforts of plenty of men, Kane was single. It wasn’t that he was against the idea of being with anyone, it was just a touch more complex than that.

Kane was a Little.

Kane had known he was a Little for a long time and was totally fine with it. A Little was just like anyone else, except for the fact that a Little had certain things they just loved to do. Coloring in pretty patterns was one thing. Singing nursery rhymes was another. The chance to splosh around and make a mess with paint, glue and all manner of sticky crafting kit was another. Some Littles even liked to wear diapers and have little wet accidents.

Not everyone would want to be in a relationship with a Little. It tended to be a certain kind of man. These men were called Daddies, or sometimes Daddy Doms. They were usually big, gruff and sometimes scary men who liked to take control and even spank Littles. But what a Daddy really did was be there to look after and cherish his Little boy, picking him up when he fell down and make everything right again.

Kane hadn’t met his Daddy yet.

Sometimes it made Kane sad if he let himself think about his lack of a Daddy for too long. But that was the key right there… Kane always made sure he was too busy having fun to let himself think about it.

There was always fun to be had in Cape Daddy. And Kane would often make it his mission to play at least one prank or practical joke per shift delivering pizzas. Some of the practical jokes that Kane had played would go down in Cape Daddy history, and the most remarkable thing about it was that Kane rarely got caught. You could say he was something of an expert when it came to getting away with things.

But before Kane could think too much about what mischief he was going to get up to that evening, it was time to get this extra-large Hawaiian to Mr. and Mrs. Zooter!

Kane got to Mr. and Mrs. Zooter’s house and handed over the pizza to them. They didn’t look overly impressed with his tardiness and tipped him one dollar. The Zooters were a very affluent couple and of course could have tipped a fair amount. But ultimately there was nothing that Kane could do except for take the money.

‘Gee, thanks,’ Kane said, not making much of an attempt to hide his dismay. ‘I might invest this in some Tesla stock…’

Stinkbugs and broomsticks!

What am I meant to do with one dollar?

I guess I can rule out early retirement…
