Page 2 of Bodie's Game

It was his career that had enabled him to move out of the city in fact. With remote working becoming a big thing in the world, Bodie’s company had allowed its employees to work from home. There would be the odd day where they would need to come into the office for meetings or large proposals, but generally everyone was allowed to get their work done from the comfort of their home.

‘I think I’ll put my workstation…here!’ Bodie said, bouncing on his heels in excitement as he earmarked a spot overlooking his garden. ‘Hornz, you can sit here and look out onto the garden with me. But no running off and chasing squirrels, okay?’

Bodie let out a satisfied sigh.

Maybe moving from the city in search of a quieter life was going to work out just fine after all. Bodie found the city an intense, totally overwhelming place.

Sure, it was fun to be able to go to a million movie theaters or restaurants at any time of day or night. And Bodie definitely didlike the hundreds of toy shops and crafting departments that seemed to be on every corner.

But in the end, Bodie felt like it was time to try a different way of life.

Cape Daddy was way smaller than the city, but he’d heard only good things about it. Plus, Bodie had done some research and there was an open minded and apparently burgeoning Little and Daddy community going on.

Bodie was now a single Little in Cape Daddy. Who knows what could happen?

Bodie though wasn’t going to be putting any pressure on himself to find his Forever Daddy. All he was going to do was be open minded to the possibility of it happening.

Perhaps more important to Bodie in the immediate future was finding a group of Little friends. Part of the reason Bodie had been too shy to reach out and make Little friends in the city dated back to his childhood.

Growing up poor, or certainly way less well off than most at his high school, had made Bodie feel like an outsider. It hadn’t been good for his confidence. Not one bit.

But maybe a fresh start would help Bodie take that leap and leave his high school hang-ups behind. After all, he was a young and successful career boy now.

‘Hmmm, what’s this?’ Bodie said, noticing his cell phone lighting up with a message. ‘Oh jinkety-stinks!’

The message was an update from the moving company. There was going to be an even longer delay in his stuff being delivered. This wasn’t meant to be the way things went. The whole point ofusing his company’s own contracted delivery firm was that there wouldn’t be any problems.

But Bodie was determined that he wasn’t going to let a small little hiccup ruin his first day in Cape Daddy.

No, what Bodie was going to do was turn the negative into a positive. Had all his stuff arrived on time, he would have already been neck-deep in piles of clothes and bed linen.

With this unexpected free time on his hands, Bodie decided that it was time to explore Cape Daddy. And if he so happened on passing a paint supplies store, then even better!

There might even be other Littles in the paint shop. Bodie had never felt so optimistic about meeting new people. It was like moving to Cape Daddy was a re-set of his life.

But rather than get too excited and place too much expectation on who he might meet, Bodie decided to focus on what he could control. And that was very much the chance to buy copious amount of paint.

Bodie knew that a good session of paint play would make him feel right at home in his cute little cottage. And even better, with none of his crafting supplies having arrived in the move, this was the perfect excuse to fully re-stock everything!

Paints.

Pencils.

Paper.

Even a new easel! Yay!

With a big smile on his face and the sparkle well and truly back in his eyes, Bodie picked up his house key and made his way out.

It was time to seeexactlywhat Cape Daddy had in store for Bodie…

Chapter 2

The hushed silence as Taylor spoke was a testament to the respect he was held in by the residents of Cape Daddy.

There must have been at least twenty residents of the community, of all ages, listening keenly as Taylor Modene spoke on a variety of issues. The Cape Daddy Diner was a great place to come for a hot drink or some food, but it was a hub in the community too.

With its homely, retro styling and commitment to service with a smile, The Cape Daddy Diner was the kind of eatery that had earned its five-star rating online. But even without a single internet review, the staff at the Cape Daddy Diner would have been just as committed to providing the best service around. It was simply their way of doing things.
