“Don’t I get to participate?” Sam asked in an amused whisper. “I’m an excellent shot.”

How had he figured out what I planned to do?

Knowing Sam’s skill with a gun went beyond excellent, I relented. “Fine, the blues.”

In the next second, from inside my suit jacket, I pulled out a pistol with a silencer. I disabled three of the eight security along the windows, while Sam handled the two wearing blue suits, and Neil took care of the three near him.

Shock washed over the faces of the men around the table, and the only sounds heard were those of the men dealing with bullet injuries.

With a nod from Neil, three of his team grabbed my uncles and dragged them screaming from the room. At the same time, the remaining agent posing as security restrained Joshi in his chair with the weight of one heavy hand on his shoulder.

Almost as if in slow motion, Neil stalked in Shah’s direction, anger blazing in his dark eyes. “Let’s restart this conversation. Which of you fuckers wants to be next? How about you?”

“W-what are you doing?” Shah stammered. “Have you lost your mind? I’ve treated you as if you were my own son.”

Fuck. That was the wrong thing to say.

Neil’s grip tightened, and he adjusted his finger, ready to pull the trigger.

“Why don’t we get some answers first?” Sam pushed down the weapon, pointing the barrel away from Shah’s direction and to the ground. “Then, you can finish it.”

Neil and Sam stared at each other, a war of emotions flowing between them. With the two brothers so close together and Shah in the background, there was no doubt the three of them shared some sort of relationship.

“He doesn’t deserve to live. I will make him pay,” Neil promised.

“Seems only fair.” Sam continued to maintain his hold on the gun. “How about reminding him of everything he lost before you make it easy on him and put a bullet between his eyes?”

“Ten minutes, no more.” Neil moved to the side. “My mother deserves justice from both of them.”

“What have I done to you?” Shah continued to feign his innocence.

“You can drop the act, Shah.” Sam kept his body between Neil and Shah. “It’s over. You’ve lost. Accept it and deal with the consequences.”

“I will never lose to a King.”

I clenched my jaw and couldn’t help but respond. “You’ve already lost. Jayna and Danika are now both Kings. Sam is a King. I’m carrying Sam’s child. And most of all, the Kings helped the son you wanted but couldn’t claim to destroy you.”

“That child hasn’t arrived yet.”

Immediately, my senses fired, hearing the threat in his words.

The window shattered, and before I could duck, something hit me in the chest and abdomen, throwing me back. I collided with Sam right as Neil’s body landed over both of ours.

Sam

My heart hammeredinto my chest as my mind whirled with thoughts of Devani and how I’d barely caught her before she slammed to the floor.

I held her to me, scanned the area, wanting to make sure the shooting stopped, and then shifted us to a nearby wall.

The bastard had planned this.

Neil rolled to his side and groaned. Then in the next second, he jumped up and shouted orders into a wrist communicator. “Tell me you have that fucker. Get him in the room, I’ll deal with him personally. Find out what kind of rifle he had. And why the fuck wasn’t anyone watching the radio tower?”

Devani eyes fluttered open.

“Sam. I told you I had it covered.”
