I decide to give as good as I’m getting. “You can’t fuck me now. I still have your father’s cum inside me. It’s dribbling down the inside of my thighs. I assume you don’t want to dip your cock in that.”

His expression drops. “Fuck, Laney. How to ruin a moment.”

I laugh, the sound slightly cold. “Sorry, Cade, but learn how to pick the right time, and let me give you some advance warning...it won’t be any time today.”

He pouts but gets up and crosses the room. To my surprise, he loops his hand around the back of my neck and ducks his head. He kisses me, demanding, pushing his tongue between my lips. Then he shoves his hand up my t-shirt and cups my breast, pinching my nipple hard enough to hurt.

I gasp and pull away. “Cade!”

“Just making sure you remember that you’re mine as well. Your mouth is mine, your tits are mine, and your pussy is mine, even when it is filled with another man’s cum. Got it?”

I don’t dare do anything but nod.

“Good,” he says. “Now I’m going to help with the chores. Hopefully, we’ll find something to eat today. You need to keep up your strength.”

“Where’s Darius?” I ask.

“I think he went out back, to the woodshed.”

“Does-does he know what’s happened?”

Cade appraises me as though I’m stupid. “Yes, Laney. I think the fucking birds in the trees heard what happened, and Darius’s hearing is better than most.”

“Oh. I thought I was being quiet.”

He chuckles. “You definitely weren’t, but I enjoyed hearing it, and so did Dax. He’s probably whacking one out now.”

I roll my eyes. “Do you have to be so crude?”

“Only when I want to watch you squirm.”

I ignore Cade and leave the cabin to go and find Darius. I want to make sure we’re good. Even though he practically pushed me onto Reed’s cock, knowing it’s actually happened might change things between us.

I find him chopping wood and pause to admire him. He’s shirtless, his long hair hanging down his back. He places the log on the block, lifts the axe above his head, and brings it down in exactly the right spot. His skill amazes me. The crack reverberates through the air, and, as though answering it, I hear a distant roll of thunder.

“I know you’re there, Laney,” Darius says. “Why are you lurking?”

“Sorry.” I step forward. “Just admiring the view.”

He swings back his hair and puts down the axe. “The forest or me?”

I smile. “What do you think?”

Darius lifts his face skyward. “A storm is coming. It’s going to be bad. I figured I’d get as much wood in as possible before it hits.”

I frown and lift my gaze as well. The sky does look threatening, the clouds low and gray and bulbous. “If we get a lot of rain, is the river likely to burst its banks?”

“Possibly, but I don’t think it’ll affect us. We’re up too high. It’ll affect our chances to gather food and wood though. We need to prepare.”

My mind has been all sex and relationships recently, but it suddenly hits me that we’re in survival mode.

“I’ll go and gather kindling while it’s still dry,” I tell Darius.

No matter what happens between us all, surviving is the most important thing.
