Page 21 of Claiming My Mate

“Would you like to see the upstairs or cut into the brownies someone made us?”

Her eyes widened. “Brownies. Where?”

He chuckled. That answered his question. He knew they didn’t have a lot of time before the mating heat built in them, and people would start to stop by.

The wolves would not interfere if they were mating. Blake knew they’d be able to smell the scent of sex, and they’d come back another time. But he didn’t know how her friends would handle having her that close and not being able to see her.

They cut into the brownies, and he moaned. They were the best ones he’d ever had.

“All three of us like to bake,” she said.

“I should warn you that I have a sweet tooth, so you’ll be busy feeding me.”

She laughed. “If I give you too much, you’ll weigh two hundred pounds.”

He snorted. “I already weigh that, mate. I’m six foot five and two hundred and forty pounds.”

“Holy cow. You could squash me,” she joked.

“That will never happen. I’ll always be careful with you.”

She hugged him. “I hope not too careful.”

He grinned and lifted her. “Oh, no, I won’t. I’ll give you everything you need and more, mate.”

She started to kiss his neck. “I know you will. Take me to bed, babe.”

He laughed. “I have a demanding mate.”

She chuckled. “I think you’re up for the challenge.”

He gave her a hard kiss. “You better believe it.”

They were walking toward the bedroom when he heard a truck approach. Fuck. He could ignore them, but he knew she really wanted to see her friends, and the Alpha knew not to stay long.

“I think we have company.”

She perked up. “Really. Who?”

“Why don’t we go see?” he said.

He carried her out to the front porch as Roman, his Alpha, was helping a woman out of the truck.

“Oh, it’s Brenna and Nicole,” Simone squealed.

He tightened his hold when she squirmed to get down. “Easy, mate. They’re coming. I don’t want you hurting yourself.”

She nodded up at him.

He set her on her feet but kept her pinned against his chest with an arm around her waist.

The girls raced up the porch steps.

“Brenna, slow down!” Roman yelled.

“I’m sorry,” Brenna said.

Blake could tell from the disgruntled look on his Alpha’s face that he was already used to this kind of behavior, and he hoped his mate would listen better than Roman’s mate did.
