The little gasp she lets out when she feels how hard I am for her makes my cock throb behind my sweats. She looks down, seeing how tented my pants are and then back up to my eyes. She’s blushing a beautiful shade of red at the sight of my desire.

Yeah, babygirl, that’s what you do to me.

Thankfully—or not thankfully—she moves away from me. She quietly makes our plates, piling mine high with scrambled eggs and bacon before making her own much smaller plate.

“Thank you for breakfast,” I say once we are both finished eating. “You didn’t have to cook.”

She shrugs. “I always make breakfast on Sunday mornings. It would’ve been a shitty thing to not make you some.”

“Well, I appreciate it.”

“You’re welcome,” she says shyly.

“What’s on the agenda for today?”

“I usually spend Sundays cleaning around the house and lazing about. Nothing exciting. I need to go to the grocery store, too.”

I nod. “I think we can manage that. I need to check in at the office today.”

“Oh,” she says, looking disappointed.

“You could come with me,” I offer. Now why the hell did I do that? The more time I spend with her, integrating her into my life, the more difficult it’s going to be to keep these feelings that are growing between us under control. The lines between a real relationship and a fake one are already blurry enough.

I should take it back. I should tell her Ransom will take her grocery shopping and hang out here while I go to the office like I had originally planned. But I don’t. I’m a glutton for punishment, and I want nothing more than to spend my time with her.

Thirty minutes later, Charity comes out of her bedroom dressed in skinny jeans that are molded to her perfect body like a second skin and a sleeveless shirt that shows off the upper curves of her breasts and a thin line of her perfectly tanned stomach. She looks like sex and sin without even trying.

“I’m ready when you are,” she says cheerfully.

I have to practically shake sense into myself before I can answer. “Let’s head out then.”

The trip to my office is a quick one. Since it’s Sunday, no one else is here to witness my downfall into Charity’s gravitational pull. I lead her to my office with a hand on her lower back. She glides along beside me like she’s meant to be there. It’s doing untold damage to my self-control. I’m hanging on by a thin thread. I want nothing more than to fling her down on my desk and fuck her into next week, but that would be unprofessional and uncalled for.

Yeah, and fingering her until she came undone under my ministrations was professional.

“Have a seat. This shouldn’t take long.”

She smiles up at me, taking a seat across from my desk. “Take your time. I’ll just read while I wait,” she says, waving her phone in my direction.

I sit down and try my best to focus on my work, but my attention keeps dragging up to where Charity sits, happily reading on her phone. Her cheeks flush when she realizes I’m looking at her as if she’s been caught doing something wrong.

Interesting.

I can’t help wondering what she’s reading that has her blushing. I’ve seen the romance books on her shelves…

“Good book?” I ask.

Her eyes widen, and she nods that pretty blush darkening. “Uh… yeah. Good.”

“What’s it about?” I push, curious if she’ll answer.

She visibly swallows, eyes darting to the screen of her phone then back up to me. “Just a romance…”

I fold my hands on the top of my desk. “What’s it about?” I ask, loving how she shifts on her chair, debating whether or not she’s going to answer me.

“Well… Uh… Are you sure you want to know?”

I smirk. “I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t want to know.”
