Beckett growls. “Would everyone stop talking about vibrators? My sisters are virgins. They don’t have sex.”

I snort. “Wrong.”

I point to River and Elizabeth. He has her pushed up against the wall in the hallway. His fingers are threaded through her hair and her hands are kneading his ass as he devours her mouth. They’re about five seconds away from clothes coming off.

“Example number two.” This time I point to Phoenix and Gabrielle who are glued to each other as they slow dance in themiddle of the dance floor despite Pearl Jam blasting from the speakers.

“Nope. No. Just no. My sisters do not have sex.”

Lilac sighs. “We’ve discussed this. Your sisters are adults, and they are free to live their lives as they wish.”

I giggle. “Good luck with changing his mind.”

Lilac drags Beckett away, and I’m left behind with Petal.

“You still haven’t bought anything from my store,” she accuses.

Damn straight I haven’t. Petal owns a candle shop,Sensual Scents.Candles and I are not friends. Unless you don’t light them, but what’s the purpose of a candle if it isn’t lit?

I scan the area for an escape since I know Petal has the ability to force me to buy her candles even though I don’t want to. The woman has some magical powers. I notice a tall man making his way through the crowd toward me.Cedar.

His gaze is fixed on mine as he prowls through the crowd. And, make no doubt about it, he’s definitely prowling and I think I’m his prey. I bristle. I’m no one’s prey.

“Congratulations, princess.” He bends over to kiss my cheek.

His woodsy smell hits me and I want to melt into him. It’s been over a month since we’ve torn the sheets up together and I miss him. No, not him. It. I miss it. The sex. I don’t miss Cedar. Except I’ve spent the past week since Saint Patrick’s Day messaging with him every day. It’s been fun, flirty, and completely platonic.

Uh oh. I’m in trouble. Flashing neon signs. Skywriter. Holy shit. Trouble.

A lump suddenly appears in my throat. “Thank you.” I have to force the words out.

Petal squeals next to me and I jump. I forgot she was standing there. “Project Hermit is my absolute favorite.”

“Having favorites is wrong,” Sage declares as she joins us. “I love all my children the same.”

“You didn’t have any children,” Cayenne points out.

Sage motions to all the people in the room. “I’ve changed everyone’s diapers in this room.”

I raise my hand. “Excuse me. You never changed my diaper.”

“Except you.”

“And you didn’t change the diapers of my sisters or my brother either.”

“And changing someone’s diaper is not the same as actually being the parent of the child,” Clove says.

Sage waves away her comment. “It takes a village.”

This discussion could go on all night. The gossip gals enjoy bickering with each other almost as much as they enjoy gossiping. Almost.

I gasp and widen my eyes as I feign shock. “Oh my. I didn’t know Eden and Miller hated each other.”

“Where?” Sage shouts. “Where are they?”

I indicate the back corner where the flower store owner and brewery owner are obviously having an argument.

“This is not okay. They need to wait their turn. Gossip gals! Move out.” Sage leads the women away.
