"I'm using wood because it sounds the most mundane. But if this industry collapses, you might as well say bye to paper...lots of offices would suffer and would have to rely heavily on software, thereby putting a strain on that industry. Remember, there's a low supply of workers, so it's just a matter of time before that one collapses too. I don't need to tell you the global implications of technology collapse. That's something no one is ready for to be honest."

I heaved a big sigh, "So what you're trying to say is that a world where there are more poor people than rich people is more economically balanced than vice versa?"

"No. I'm saying that it is economically impossible to craft a world in such a setting where there are more rich people than average or mediocre achievers."

"Wow!"

I honestly didn't think I'd receive such a comprehensive lecture today.

"So, theoretically, you're cool with where you are now and wouldn't wish to change that?" I queried him.

"Well, you know..." he replied. "I never fully answered your question."

"Really?" I blinked. "Because I'm quite satisfied with my answer."

"First of all, not everyone wants to be a billionaire, Sienna. So 'something more' might not necessarily be financially."

Oh. When he started the whole wealth talk, I completely buried that angle to the whole thing.

"That's right. There's a lot you can fulfill yourself with besides wealth," I rephrased his statement.

"I always wanted to be an Olympiad," he smiled. "Maybe it's a little too late for me to..."

"It's not too late, Ricardo." I reached out and held his hands in mine, looking into his eyes with all the encouragement I could muster.

"What sport do you play?"

"Track," he answered. "Sprints mostly."

"I'll be your personal trainer," I assured him.

"Oh, I'm counting on it," he chuckled. Just as we were sharing our brief moment, I noticed a shadow out of the corner of my eye. Following the pre-baked stark-naked instinct bred in me, I turned my head sharply to catch a glimpse of Alessandro'sretreating form. No jokes when I say he was moving backwards like he was trying to avoid being caught.

Huh. Sneaky prick. He really has nothing better to do with his time. Stalking people in the mid-afternoon must have seemed fun. I mean, Ricardo was giving an excellent lecture.

We didn't stay up to thirty minutes in the comfortable evening sun when our moment was interrupted.

"Ricardo?"

He answered the domestic staff that called him.

"The boss requests to see you in his office immediately." My heart began to beat completely out of proportion, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. I always got quirky at boss meetings, even though it wasn't for me. That was just my employee wiring.

"Well, so sad our natural tanning spa has to end. Hopefully, we'll do this some other time when I'm not as busy as I was these past few days?" He stood up and began putting on his light clothes. He had a very alluring body. Strong athletic legs and a tough but not really built torso. The type that just kept trim by running...maybe his arms were cut by skipping. Otherwise, his lower half were his most tantalizing points. I watched his glutes twitch as he moved. Yup, definitely smash.

"Of course. You go do your thing" I encouraged him.

"See ya," he waved and entered the house after the staff, still struggling to put on his shirt.

I was on the reclining chair for about thirty minutes before feeling like I had enough and decided to go check on my daughter. I hadn't seen her since the morning when she disappeared from my sight at the sight of Gretchen - one of the cooks and her favorite one at that.

I never really worried about losing Artemis throughout the day. For one, after her weeks on end exploring the place with her grandma, she probably knew the place by heart. Secondly, she was always with one of four people: Ricardo, Mrs. Ricci, Gretchen, or Alessandro. All of whom I trusted well enough to leave Artemis with, especially Alessandro and his mother. Once either had her, they'd never want to let her go. I once walked in on what seemed like a heated argument between the two about who had played tea with Artemis the most that day. Mrs. Ricci genuinely got offended when Alessandro told her that she should have been done with 'babying' by now.

Walking into my room to get properly dressed, I clashed with Ricardo on the way. He had a lot of paperwork in his hands.

"Hey. Work huh?" I teased. He definitely wasn't going to recover from all this paperwork in the next three days.

"Um...actually, this doesn't work," he said almost like he was trying not to tell me something.
