"Huh. You'll love the pancakes. Artemis and I made them, and she's a good cook," he laughed.

"I'm going to indulge in these, definitely."

"So... I have a serious question to ask you," he stared blankly when I was already halfway through my meal.

"These pancakes are sent from heaven," I commented.

"Glad you like it," he smiled. "So..."

"Yeah. You said you had a question for me?"

"Yeah.” He shifted uncomfortably where he sat and observed me for a while before sighing heavily.

"Sienna. Will you be my girlfriend?"

I froze midway with the last bite I had taken still in my mouth.

"Wha...?" I made a sound that sounded like the question.

"It's a good thing, Sienna. It's what's best for our baby girl. There's a lot of things out of our way, a lot of cats out of the bag. We can actually make this work...you and I," he persuaded.

"Think about it," he said when I remained comically frozen in the same frame I paused in. "When you have your answer, you know where to find me." He stood up and gave me a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room.

"Yes."

He turned back and looked at me to be sure I was the one that said it.

"Yes, I'll be your girlfriend, come on. Where else do you expect me to find handsome, kind, dangerous...plus I obviously don't know where to find you... it's such a big house..." I kept rambling until his mouth was on mine. We kissed passionately for a long time and when we pulled apart, I wished we never did. Pulling him back to myself, we indulged in each other for pretty much the rest of the morning.

Epilogue

The next three months for Alessandro and I were pure carnage. Not a day went by without Mrs. Ricci intervening to separate us when she heard my screams... occasionally Alessandro's from the numerous fake fights we had that got inches close to real most times.

We were polar opposites when it came to opinions and dictates and most of the time, it ended passively aggressively. Nobody got their way. I was also a temperamental match for his hell. He was mostly choleric. He wanted a thing done and would get into a choke hold with whoever opposed that objective. Mine was easy. I was seemingly easy going, but when I got annoyed, I set my foot hard in stone and would not budge to his dictates.

The chaos that ensued as a result was the only one that Mrs. Ricci could calm. It wasn't a full-on fight and was mostly nevercompletely serious, but the aim was simple. Whenever he landed a blow, I was going to gouge double. I think he was enjoying it, because he seemed to take any opportunity he had to throw blows. Artemis enjoyed the shit show the most. In the end, after every session that she witnessed, we both agreed to each other that we were two of the most fucked up parents on the east coast right now.

A Mafia Don and his psychopathic girlfriend.

I have taken on a new addiction now. Manipulation was more fun than people made it seem and growing my skills, I planned to use it to my advantage in the business course I was studying.

Alessandro fulfilled his promise and sponsored my education in Columbia University where I was going to emerge with a degree in the next five years for Human Capital Management. I hoped to introduce a new system of staff management to Alessandro's team and make them more motivated to work.

"I've told you, tigre. You get more done with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone. There has to be an element of force," he meticulously stated. "People are motivated more by what they stand to lose than what they have to win...unless their lives are complete messes. If you take them away from that life, they then have the good life to lose if they fuck up. It's that simple."

"I believe life can be conducted without violence." And I stuck to that belief.

Life in the university was daunting. The only difference between it and high school was that bullying was a really immature thing to do and even if it happened, you had to have been a total dick to be in those shoes.

One thing I also noticed was that suddenly, I wasn't the tallest person in the room any more. Heck, I wasn't even a rarity in college. There were ladies from around the country and world that dwarfed me. If that was the only thing being used to mock me, I was now completely under the radar. In fact, I could still say that I was on the radar, but for a totally different reason. It turned out that a five feet, eleven-inch-tall girl with ample curves and a slightly androgynous featured face was a solid ten out of ten. I tried in vain to get used to the number of heads that whipped around doing double takes as I passed them. A few even had the audacity to approach me.

Of course, I was no one else’s but Alessandro's. Giving them the benefit of ignorance - one that the law never had - I tried my best to let them down slowly. The more persistent ones got a harsher treatment and at one point, Alessandro's had to come himself to drop me off and have a word with the female lecturer herself.

Yes. That's exactly what you read.

One thing that really distinguished university from high school was that no one gave a shit about anyone. As long as they didn't know you, you didn't matter. Even though you were God's very child.

After a little psychology experiment, I discovered that Alessandro really wanted Ricardo out mostly because he felt I was falling in love with him.
