“To sleep,” he adds with a grin.
He maneuvers through the doorway and eases me onto my bed. I lift my legs and slip under the comforter, watching in anticipation as he untucks his shirt and begins working to unbutton it. The room is dark, but the dim glare of the light reflecting from the living room lamp bounces off him as he gracefully removes his shirt. I am just about to slide to the edge of the bed and help him out of his pants when something beside me moves.
“What the fuck?” Callisto says when Brynn reaches up and drapes her arm across my body.
“Ohmygod. I totally forgot about Brynn!” I hide my face in my hands to muffle my laughter.
He throws his head back and breathes up at the ceiling. “Minor detail,” he says with a hint of sarcasm when he looks back down at me.
I stretch my hand out toward him as he picks up his shirt and moves toward the door. “Don’t go.”
He smiles and shakes his head. “Goodnight, Makenna.”
Well, shit.
