Quickly, I ran to my bungalow and opened the door, locking it quickly before I ran for the bathroom and threw up everything but the kitchen sink.

I didn’t know if it had been the tequila, the man’s hands on me and the fear of being raped or having Matilda save me and realizing I was becoming attracted to her that made my stomach decide to empty but once the waves of nausea ebbed, I felt a lot better.

When I closed my eyes, sitting against the cold tiles of the bathroom, all I saw was an image of Matilda, in a white gossamer dress, almost as if she were Aphrodite herself.

My eyes snapped open.

Shit.

How the hell was I going to survive when the goddess herself was here, tormenting my mind? I didn’t exactly know when I had been turned off by men, but tonight, I realized just how badly I wanted women.

One woman in fact.

Matilda.

CHAPTER5

GEN

Mara ran over to me,her face full of worry, as I entered the breakfast hall. My sleep had been broken all night, but I felt energized for the day ahead.

“Hey Mar.”

“Gen, you’re okay?” she asked me. “I found out about that guy last night and let me tell you I handed it to the General Manager. He’s been fired and is now off the island. I’m so sorry.”

“How did you know about it?” I asked her. No one else had been around to see it or so I had thought.

“I was told this morning,” she said. “That girl Mattie, the new one, she came over and told me what happened to you. Trust me, no one will be left alone, all late night buggy drivers will be female to prevent this from happening again.”

“Honestly, I shouldn’t have been that drunk, it’s my own fault for trusting someone I didn’t know.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” she said. “We should be able to trust people who are working for us, no matter the state we are in. Now, come and eat, I want to make sure you get something in you for the day ahead.”

I walked over to a table that was waiting. Rose was nowhere to be seen and I couldn’t seem to find Matilda anywhere.

“Who are you looking for?”

“Rose,” I said immediately.

“Oh she’s holed up with a migraine, she called me earlier.”

I got up and piled food up on my plate before joining Mara again. She was finally off her phone and sat back in her chair.

“How’s the bub?”

“Making me nauseous every morning,” she giggled. “But it’s all good. It’s so tiring. I don’t suggest being pregnant and planning a conference at the same time.”

“Especially not as big as this one,” I told her. “Well, I have no plans on children anyway.”

“Oh come on,” she said. “You were so excited when I told you about this one. You’re going to absolutely melt around babies.”

I shrugged. “Never wanted one of my own, though.”

Mara rolled her eyes. “Now it makes sense why you went for married men.”

“I guess that’s the reason, but I’m pretty sure it was the money.”

“Gen, you know I know how rich you are. You don’t need men to pay for you.”
