“If this Alpha doesn’t want any problems for himself or his son now or in the future, he shouldn’t send his wolves after you,” Morpheus said, reaching out and holding a lock of my hair. “But never mind that…that’s not something you have to worry about.”

I could see their worried glances bouncing between each other and me. Dominik, who was always hardest to convince, was the first to retreat backward. On their faces I saw the love they had for me and their disappointment over the choice I made.

“We said we wouldn’t let lure us until she agreed to keep away from Apollyn,” Dominik bit out.

“But Dominik,” Altair started. “You heard her. She had no choice.”

While they were all surrounding me, I felt the urge to lay all my feelings out for them. “But I did have a choice, Altair, and I made it. I made a deal with Apollyn and I’m not the type of person to renege on my agreements,” I said. “Your father told me how my parents died. It was a supernatural cause. They died in that church where Asmodeus tried to resurface.”

“We didn’t know, Sadie.” Altair brought me into his arms. “Had we known that your parents died that way, we would’ve been straight forward with you. When we saw the ashes and the…we couldn’t identify anyone. After that happened, my brothers and I were on other missions, and then we found out how our own mothers died.”

“It’s okay. I’m just glad for some kind of closure after having my doubts for so long. It’s not justice…yet, but it is closure about what really happened to them.” I sighed. "Let's go inside. Now that I'm here we have a lot to talk about. It was my choice to be here, and this time I won't get swept out by that drat void."

Dominik bit his bottom lip, shaking his head. “But you still chose our father.” He kept a distance of more than three feet while his brothers admired me with gentle touches and caresses. Altair’s lips were inches from mine when a howl broke out toward the north side of the manor.

Altair stiffened and drew back. “By my count, there are two other shifters alive and stalking the property. We have to take care of them—stop them, and then we can talk.”

“Sure.” I nodded.

“Morpheus, come with me,” Altair commanded. “Dom, you take her inside. Make sure she stays inside.”

Even before I could utter a word, Dominik leaned down, picked me up, and threw me over his shoulders. He began taking long strides toward the manor.

“Seriously, Dom?”

“Yes, seriously. You can fool the others, but not me, you wicked witch,” he growled.

Heat shot up my spine. The emotions that were settling in the pit of my stomach confused the hell out of me. I knew this was just Dom being extra Dom, and I’d always been attracted to Dom’s feral side especially when he was pissed off about something.

“You don’t have to haul me around like a pile of logs. I can walk,” I said, beating on his back.

“Your hits feel like butterfly taps, and yes, I do have to haul you because you’re hard-headed and unpredictable. No one told you to seek out our father,” he challenged. "You should be punished."

“He sought me out first, and you were burning up, for fuck's sake!” I pounded his back. “And don’t forget what I can do to you,” I warned.

“I know exactly what you can do, Sadie, and you’re already doing it,” he growled, sending heated sensations up my spine. “No magic needed.”

He slammed the door shut behind him, and the force of his kick sent a shudder through the walls of the house. He spun around and grabbed her, pressing her body into the wall and snarling, “What are you going to say to my brothers when they get back? You know you'll have to explain yourself and be convincing enough so we don't take turns punishing you.”

My breath quickened as my body trembled. I could feel my skin flush as the man pressed against me. I could taste the anticipation building inside my mouth as his lips caressed my neck. His breath was searing hot, sending dizzying waves of pleasure throughout my entire being.

"Dom," I gasped.

"What?" he growled.

I shook my head, unable to explain in words what I was feeling. In that instant, my desire overtook me, and I reached up to grasp his neck in both hands, bringing his lips down to meet mine.

He groaned against me as he drew me closer, deepening the kiss and exploring every crevice of my mouth with his tongue. His hands roved over my body as he pressed himself even harder against me, the intensity of our passion escalating with each passing moment.

My heart raced as a million sensations cascaded through my body in an explosion of pleasure. I wanted more—more of him and more of this moment—but soon enough it was over and we parted reluctantly.

Even though neither one of us wanted to stop, we knew that if we let things go much further there would be no turning back until morning. Taking a deep breath, Dominik pulled away from me and stepped back slightly, allowing some space between us.

"I can smell your heat. But I also knew your betrayal. Do you remember what I do to you when I was like this?" His voice, low and menacing, snaked through the air.

A sizzling heat radiated from his body, seeping deep into my bones. He grabbed my wrists, pinning me against the wall.

I trembled, my heart racing with a strange combination of terror and excitement. "Yes," I whispered, running my fingertips up the back of his neck in a slight provocation.
