I lean against the brick wall of the building and take deep lungfuls of the cool, crisp, late fall air.

The muted sounds of happy patrons are a stark contrast to the despair and shock rocking my system.

There’s no doubt about it. I’m jealous as hell. I can’t stand to think about those girls touching him.

But confusion wings around in my brain. Where was this green-eyed monster coming from? I’d gotten rid of these feelings a long time ago.

Hadn’t I?

“What the hell is going on with me? It’s because I just got dumped, right?”

My voice echoes in the alley, but it doesn’t have any answers for me.

I drop my chin to my chest and blow out a breath just as the door opens, and the music and sounds get louder before the metal door slams shut.

Goose bumps break out across my skin, and I know it’s him before he says anything.

But when he does, it’s a single word, said softly. And it nearly breaks me.

“Olivia.”

CHAPTER4

Caleb

“Olivia.”

She holds up a hand as though to hold me off.

As if that would keep me from going to her.

My adrenaline is off the charts, fueled by the jealous rage I felt when I saw Olivia wrapped in Wyatt’s arms. Wyatt’s my buddy. We’ve gone out and been each other’s wingmen, and we’ve partied with some girls in town for the season. I know what the man is capable of when it comes to the ladies.

So, seeing him sidle up to Olivia, wrap an arm around her shoulders, and have his hand dangerously close to her tits that are barely covered in that tight excuse for a shirt? And her not turn him away?

It made me want to murder my friend.

I stalk over to her and put my hands on the wall next to her head, caging her between my body and the building. “Look at me.”

She lifts her chin and stares back at me, defiance in her eyes. “What?”

“Are you okay?”

“Sure. Why wouldn’t I be?”

I narrow my eyes at her, trying to keep my blood from boiling. “What was that in there?”

She crosses her arms over her chest. “What do you mean?”

“You and Wyatt.”

She tilts her head and gives me a withering look. “I don’t ask about your business with Barbie and her bestie, so stay out of mine.”

I study her eyes. “Are you jealous?”

She scoffs and looks away. “Of course not.”

“Liar.”
