“Then you can rent out your grandfather’s, so you won’t lose the memories you shared there.”

“And I get to live with you—the man I love with all my heart.”

“I love you.” He kissed me, seemingly savoring each swipe of his tongue. He leaned forward until I was on my back. He hovered over me, his gaze steady on me. “I can’t believe you’re mine.”

“Always.”

He kissed me again, his hand cradling my face. Pulling away, he said, “I have something for you.”

He opened the drawer and pulled out a velvet box. He opened the box, and the diamond sparkled in the moonlight. “Will you marry me?”

It was a simple cut, but it was everything. “Yes.”

He placed the ring on my finger. I turned my hand, admiring it, wrapping my head around the idea that Easton was mine.

“I’ve been waiting forever to see it on your finger.”

I smiled at him. “It’s gorgeous.”

“You’re the one who’s gorgeous. You came into my life when it was empty. You filled me up. Gave it meaning. You taught me what it meant to love someone. To let people in. It was like my life started when we reunited.”

I tilted my head to the side. “Who knew when we were kids that we’d get married one day?”

Easton shook his head. “We always had a unique connection.”

“And we met at exactly the right time.”

“Enough talking,” Easton said as he moved over me, his lips and tongue doing the talking for the rest of the night.

Everything we went through was worth it to end up there. Our reunion might have been fleeting, but we took a chance and made it something more. Something we could hold onto forever.
