Even though it's been over an hour, I still can't relax my hands. And I'm trying to give Blakely the space Ears told me to give her, but it's borderline impossible.

After she disappeared inside the studio, I pulled in front of the building. Rhonda came out and gave me a dirty look. I don't know what Blakely or Noah told her, but she quickly trotted down the street, returning with a plastic bag.

Too anxious to continue waiting, I call Ears.

"Riggs, go home."

I reply, "I'm not going home. Send my wife outside, or I'm coming in even if I have to get out my gun and shoot up your security."

It's not a threat. Every minute that passes makes me think crazier thoughts. I know I'm unhinged right now, but there's nothing I can do about it. Until my pet is in front of me, I'm not going to be able to calm down.

The line goes dead. I call Ears again, but he sends it to voicemail, then rushes out of the building.

He crosses the street, yanks the door open, then slides inside my car, accusing, "What are you doing here? I told you to go away."

"I'm not leaving my wife," I bark.

His eyes turn to slits. "I told you to give her space. Go home, Riggs."

"Do I need to remind you how long we've been friends?" I threaten.

"Don't you dare pull that bullshit with me. What the fuck did you do to her anyways? She's a mess in there."

Guilt fills me. I scrub my face and lean against the headrest, closing my eyes as exhaustion sets in. When Hugh showed up at the charity event, I knew it was about to get ugly, but I had no clue my marriage would be the bullseye. I thought he'd make a scene, but it didn't occur to me he'd out me to his daughter.

I've never been so ignorant.

When Blakely looked at me as if I betrayed her, I wanted to die. Of all the things I've done to her, she's never looked at me like that. Watching her leave with Noah, not once but twice, gave misery a new meaning.

Ears sighs and softens his tone. "I have your back, but you gotta respect Blakely's wishes. We talked about this earlier."

"Did she tell you what happened?" I ask.

He furrows his eyebrows. "No. She won't talk. But she's upset."

"Did she tell Noah?"

"Not to my knowledge."

"Don't lie to me," I warn.

Ears holds up his hands. "Noah doesn't know anything. At least, that's what he claims, and I believe him. But he's only a friend to her."

"Bullshit. He's loving every minute of this," I claim, but I hope it's true she didn't confide in him. The thought makes me queasy. The last thing I need is for her to get closer to Noah.

Ears snarls, "I wouldn't lie to you."

The thought of Blakely spending the night at Noah's creates new rage inside me. I curl my fist again, seething, "Why don't you send Noah out here, and I'll ask him?"

Ears groans. "What are you going to do? Beat him up? What's that going to solve?"

I scowl. "My wife isn't staying with him. And he has no right sticking his nose into our business."

Ears grows angry. "Don't fuck up my business, Riggs. And don't interfere in your wife's career. You don't play around with Noah. He's not some low-class agent. He's going to take her to the top, and he's just helping her out."

"Bullshit. He wants my wife," I restate.

Ears shakes his head in disapproval. "Don't let your personal affairs cloud your judgment."
