“Shayna, I can replace my job, but I can’t replace you.”

Tears well in my eyes and I sniff to keep them from falling. “I don’t want you to leave the Kingsmen. Not unless that’s what you want. I know Seattle and Los Angeles aren’t that far, but if we’re going to be able to openly be in a relationship, I want to be able to see you all the time.”

He smiles, and his eyes light up from the inside. Then he brings his hands to my cheeks and our lips meet.

His taste, his scent, his feel, it all comes rushing back to me. I wrap my arms around him, deepening the kiss.

He pulls away and looks me straight in the eyes. “I love you, shy pie. From now on, we make decisions about the big stuff together. Deal?”

I nod, biting my bottom lip. “Deal.”

Lee kisses me again. Before long, our clothes are being pulled off and tossed all over the room.

“Wait.” I place my hand on his chest from where I straddle him, right before he unhooks my bra.

“I feel like I’ve been waiting forever.” He’s practically panting, and I can’t help but laugh.

“Would you like to come with me to Wisconsin over Christmas to meet my parents? I know you don’t have a lot of days off, but even a quick visit… I really want them to meet you.”

He grins and pulls me in for a hard kiss.

“You couldn’t keep me away.” He unhooks my bra and my breasts fall out.

“I did and look how well that turned out.”

“Sometimes we learn from failure.”

“Yes, we do.” I moan as he pulls my nipple into his mouth and we lose ourselves in each other’s bodies.

I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, bumps in the roads and all. We each have one another’s backs as we walk into the future.

Epilogue

Lee

Six Months Later…

As we settle in the large SUV and the driver hoists our suitcases into the back, I kiss Shayna. Her skin is sun kissed from our two weeks sailing around the Mediterranean with my brother and his wife.

I remembered the way Shayna stared longingly at the superyacht cruise at the silent auction during the Kingsmen gala last year, so when we talked about what we might want to do during the off-season, I knew this had to be it. The hard part was convincing her to take two weeks off work. She’s working at a high-end therapy clinic—something that still fills me with guilt—but she insists she’s happy. I believe her, but I know she’d rather be working at her old job with the Kingsmen.

It seems unfair that I’m still living my dream and she doesn’t get to, but she’s insistent that there’s no point in me giving up my dream—it won’t make either of us feel any better. I suppose she’s right, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel like an ass.

Hence why I wanted to spoil her with a private yacht vacation. And the fact that she was able to get to know my brother and his wife and vice versa was an added bonus. She and Jana are thick as thieves now—something that I think might come to bite Kane and me in the ass down the road.

“I don’t think I’ve ever felt so relaxed.” She leans back into the leather seat with a smile. “Or well fed. I swear they have the best food in Europe.”

“Tell me about it.” I rub my stomach. “I’m going to have to work out twice a day to get ready for training camp.”

The driver climbs in, clicks on his seat belt, and puts the SUV in drive to pull away from the curb.

Shayna grins and whispers in my ear, “You know, I’m a trained professional and I can think of a few ways to burn off some calories when we get home.”

My dick jumps and I suppress a groan. “I can’t wait for you to show me them.”

Her phone dings in her purse and she draws back to dig it out. “Oh, it’s Bryce wanting to know all about our trip.”

She starts texting, and I realize I haven’t even turned my phone back on since we got off the plane. I pull it from my pocket and slide the power button on, waiting for it to connect. A bunch of notifications go off, most of which I ignore. There are some text messages, so I go there first.
