“Good answer.”

We laugh before each returning to our meal and eating in silence for a few minutes.

“When was your last relationship?” I ask after a little while.

“Can I ask what happened?” I question cautiously.

A shrug of his massive shoulders.

“I wasn’t the guy she got with anymore.”

“Because you stopped playing?” I ask with incredulity.

“She agreed to date a pro football player, someone making decent money, and able to guarantee her future.”

“Jake, that’s terrible. You’re so much more than any of that.”

A smile tugs at his lips.

“I know, babe. And I’m glad you do too.”

I smile, shaking my head and rolling my eyes.

“What areyougoing to London for?”

“Looking into a coaching position with a club.”

“Oh wow, that sounds great!”

“Yeah, it could be cool. We’ll see, one of my old teammates is on their staff.”

“You’d have to move there?”

“Yeah…”

We stay quiet for a moment. The mood turning heavy with thoughts of the hassles of long-distance relationships.

Once our trays are taken away; I turn to Jake and ask, “will you have time to meet in London?”

“Yeah, I only have a couple of meetings, a game, and a few social events to attend.”

“Good.”

His smile is big and bright. And he gathers me in his arms, tucks me against his chest. I feel warm, and cared for. Filling my lungs with Jake’s intoxicating scent, I run my hand over the powerful muscles of his chest, and let the steady beat of his heart lull me into slumber.

Chapter Four

Jake

“God damn it, woman! What did you pack?” I tease Anna as I lift her suitcase off the conveyor belt.

She laughs and the sweet sound travels straight to my dick, making me pull her into my arms for a deep, wet kiss. When I detach our mouths, my arm stays wrapped around her waist. My eyes drink in the dazed expression in her eyes, her swollen lips, the messy hair. Her chest flush against mine. Making me wonder when I’ll get her alone again. Anna bites her lip, clearly reading my thoughts, and I throw her a wolfish grin.

“Stop, my sister’s waiting on the other side.”
