And he bites down.

The pain sears through me, followed immediately by pleasure. I gasp and roll my hips against Javi’s knot, slick between my thighs and heat roiling in my belly. Javi hisses out a breath as his tongue darts out to lap at the wound, long strokes against my my broken skin leaving me breathless.

I’ve never even been kissed.

And now—no matter where I go, whether Javi was my fated or not—he’ll always be able to find me.

He draws back, looking me in the eyes. My wrists are still clamped down to the platform by his strong arms, his long legs between my thighs. I gaze up into his face, his green eyes, a droplet of water falling from his dark hair and onto my lips.

I suck in a breath.

He stares at my mouth like he’ll devour me.

“You’re mine, omega,” he growls. “And no one else can claim you.”

I nod. “Yes, my alpha,” I say. “I’m yours.”

Silence falls over the other alphas, the rain just starting to pick back up again. The eye of the storm will pass over us soon—and then we’ll need to get back inside before the wind gets worse. I’m half convinced that Javi will take me right here on the platform in front of all these people, hurricane be damned. His eyes flutter shut and his brow furrows, his whole body still as stone.

My mind is in a haze. I can’t figure out what I want.

The bite still pulses and burns and tingles with pleasure, the yearning to taste his blood on my tongue practically irresistible.

At home—back in Austin—we exchange bites. We claimeach other.

Not here.

I hear a murmur of voices, then the alphas part as their Prime walks through. I only risk a single glance at him before averting my eyes in shame, but I realize he looks horribly angry. His fists clench at his sides as Javi gets to his feet, standing over me like I’m his prize.

“What the hell are you playin’ at, sailor?” Gideon asks, his voice full of menace. “First you come tomy houseand now you breakmy rules.”

Javi crosses his arms and lifts his chin in defiance. I start to sit up, water getting into my eyes and mouth, but my alpha growls down at me, warning me not to move. The others are still moving around me, like they might strike at any moment.

This isn’t over.

Not by a long shot.

“What rules?” Javi says. “I played your game and I won the chase. This female ismine.”

My heart pounds at his words. He’s right—I belong to him now, no matter what I want. What’s more important right now, though, is the fact that this clearly wasn’t what my father wanted…and that makes me glad it was Javi who caught me.

“You’re not my pack,” Gideon says.

“I was born on the Gulf,” Javi shoots back. “I’m as much a gulf alpha as any man here.”

“And what are you going to do with her?” Abel calls from somewhere in the crowd.

Javi’s eyes narrow and he reaches down for me, hauling me up. He wraps an arm around me, the claws out on his other hand as he stares around at the other men—all naked, glistening with sweat, waiting for even the slightest chance to sink their teeth into us both.

But Javi is huge…and I know he would take quite a few of these guys out with him.

“I’m taking my mate and we’re leaving,” he says.

Gideon sneers. “No. You’re not.”

Pack alphas crowd our path to the elevator, crossing their arms. Not that we could leave right now anyway—the hurricane is about to wreak havoc on the platform, and the ocean won’t be safe until morning. Javi doesn’t so much as glance over his shoulder, his eyes locked on my father.

“She’s mine,” Javi growls, baring his teeth. “I’m not giving her up.”
