“I can’t believe it,” I say. “It’s been…it’s been a whole month.”

I take a sharp breath and Soledad shakes her head. “Don’t let yourself go there, babe. You’re safe. We’re not letting anyone hurt you.”

As if on cue, a startled shout sounds from the hallway. The four of us snap our heads toward it and Soledad is up and moving in a heartbeat, snatching up a towel and wrapping it around herself. She always keeps a knife with her, and she grabs it and unsheathes it like she’s certain trouble is on its way.

I only have a split second to appreciate these warrior women, though…because something huge bursts through the door a second later. The other omegas scramble, but I’m frozen in place, staring at the door.

Our intruder stops in his tracks as green eyes meet mine.

“Javi,” I breathe.

Time stands still for a second, Javi wavering on his feet. He has to be weak; he hasn’t eaten since he was first dosed with drugs, and he’s been through so much. Even now, with his enhanced healing, his body is so bruised that I can barely make out the lines of muscle I know are there.

But it’s him.

It’s him, and he’s here.

The bond snaps back into life, pulling taut between us. My heart flutters as he takes a step forward. I lose track of everyone else in the room, afraid that if I get up and run toward him, it will all turn out to be a dream.

“You can’t go in there!” a voice comes from the other side of the door—Grant, I think.

Reality comes crashing back in.

Because my mate is standing naked in the omega baths while three other horrified omegas stare him down. Akari runs to the door and snatches up a towel, meeting Grant on the other side. Charlotte goes with her, moving a little slower with her belly in the way. Soledad stays behind, but only long enough to point at Javi and give me a thumbs-up before she goes.

I’m still frozen in place.

“Are you okay?” I ask, unable to get my voice louder than a whisper.

Javi exhales sharply. “Peach…”

He staggers forward and into the pool with a giant splash. I cry out, afraid that he’s fallen in—but a second later he’s wading toward me. My body moves instinctively, pushing through the water and leaping into his arms just as he reaches for me.

And then he’s touching me and the bond is back, my heart beating like a drum.

I nestle my face in his neck and breathe him in, curling my fingers in his hair. He presses his lips to the bite mark over my pulse and energy surges between us, all my pent up emotion running like a current between us. I taste salt on his neck and I realize I’m crying again, unable to stop myself.

“Peaches,” he murmurs against my skin. “You got us out. We’re…this is the Austin den, right?”

I nod. “Yes! We’re home.We’re home.”

He holds me tighter than ever before, our bodies melding together. The familiar spark of attraction settles between my thighs, but I can’t bring myself to do that right now when I have so many questions and so many stories to tell. Our hearts fall into rhythm and he nuzzles the crook of my neck.

Then he suddenly pulls back.

“The baby,” he says. “You’re…are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” I tell him. “Suyin checked me out at the clinic. Can’t you feel it?”

I take his hand and put it over my stomach, which still looks perfectly normal. Even so, I’m certain he can feel this thing we made together—this good, beautiful part of the horrific experience we had on the Rig.

“They’ll never know pain and suffering like we did,” I say. “They’ll be safe. Becausewegot out.”
